The Property Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of income-producing properties. This individual works alongside the accounting and property management team to complete the month-end close, account reconciliation, and budget analysis for the portfolio.
Job Duties
- Perform full-cycle accounting and data entry
- AP/AR and credit card reconciliations
- Assist in the preparation of the annual operating budgets for the properties
- Monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting, including financial statements and variance analysis
- Record and process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Prepare journal entries and maintain the gernral ledger
- Reconcile bank statements to the general ledger on a daily basis
- Assist monthly PADs and closed cash receipts and prepare daily scanned bank deposits
- Monitor daily cash balances
- Assist the coordination of year-end audit files, government audits
- Prepare various invoices for charge backs to clients/tenants, including the invoicing of additional rent adjustments for tenants, if applicable
- Post charge back to tenants as required
- Assist with preparation of annual operating budgets
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting
- CPA designation is preferred but not required
- 2 years' general accounting experience
- Previous experience working in a Property Management setting is highly preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Self motivated and proactive
- Extremely well organized and detail oriented, with the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Proficiency in Accounting Software
- Ability to prepare financial statements
- Knowledge of general business practices
- Ability to analyze data
- Critical thinking skills
