The successful applicant will work under the direction of Project Managers to complete the day-to-day, hands on, site and office related aspects of the projects. You will travel to client sites, review site conditions, set-up sampling equipment, collect air or material samples and collect site field data. Specifically, this may include:
Prepare and calibrate sampling equipment for field use
Identify site issues or project concerns and recommende corrective actions
Conduct site assessments for asbestos, mold, lead, PCBs, etc.
Sample collection in the field, data interpretation, and preparation of reports
Provide project oversight during abatements at client sites to assess client compliance with OHS Act, Regulations and Code
Complete asbestos air monitoring and site inspections including analysis
Interpret and analyze sample results in relation to legislative requirements and industry-accepted guidelines and criteria
Conduct IH assessments inclusive of worker exposure monitoring and sampling for chemical, physical and biological agents at a wide variety of work sites
Prepare detailed technical reports and communicate findings and recommendations
Liaise with clients to ensure health, safety, and occupational hygiene needs are addressed
Build and maintain positive client relationships
Participate in the Health and Safety and Quality Control program
Engage in technical training programs
Hours of work are 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Some weekend and evening overtime work may be required. Travel between local worksites will be required, with occasional out-of-town travel.
Required Skills and Experience
Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or Occupational Hygiene (or related field)
6 months to 2 years experience in a related field
Working knowledge and ability to interpret relevant health and safety legislation
Familiarity and comfort with industrial processes and environments is considered an asset
Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
Exceptional client interface and customer service skills
Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
Ability to work with minimum supervision and execute detailed instructions
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Valid driver's license
