We are looking for a motivated individual who is committed to growing their professional career at Vanpile while gaining valuable knowledge and experience through a variety of assignments.

Note:

- This is a full-time role and is anticipated to be approximately 7 months in duration

Responsibilities

  • Maintain statistics and records and monitor accident/incident frequencies and safety violations
  • Review documentation for accuracy and provide feedback to personnel
  • Assist in the planning and start-up of new projects with respect to safety issues
  • Inventory safety-related training of workers; conduct new worker safety orientations
  • Conduct safety training and toolbox talks
  • Regularly monitor safety compliance of workers and subcontractors; conduct site
inspections and institute remedial action if required * Keep management current on the status of any issue(s) that may impact on the work being performed
  • Promote safe working conditions
  • Enforce safety regulations and safe work practices
  • Conduct hazard assessments
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses as required
  • Maintain and prepare thorough documentation and reports
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of field safety experience, preferably in an industrial construction environment
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to influence others
  • Post-secondary education in a related field
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Results driven who ensures the right course of action is taken
  • Good organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Able to work shift work and outside the Lower Mainland if necessary
Skills/Abilities/Attributes
  • A professional safety designation is preferred (e.g., CRSP, RCSO, CHSC, CSS, CIH or ROH)
  • Occupational First Aid Level 3 certification or the willingness to complete this.
  • Experience with the BCCSA's C.O.R. program and auditing processes
  • High personal, professional and ethical standards
  • Initiative and sound judgment
  • A collaborative, proactive, and results oriented approach
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking/problem solving skills
  • Sound prioritization/time-management skills
  • Willingness to learn
