Improve technical and operational systems to increase safety, quality, service, productivity, and overall business profitability. The ideal candidate will have experience in leading and managing continuous improvement activities in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Roles & Responsibilities
Analyze current manufacturing processes, technical systems, materials, manufacturing equipment, and product work methods to identify and define engineering improvement opportunities with emphasis on process repeatability, optimum equipment utilization, waste reduction, and cost improvement.
Manage engineering improvements in a data driven and systematic manner.
Effectively define and communicate the scope, implementation plan, achievable goals, control and training plans for engineering projects.
Plan, facilitate, and execute engineering projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams (e.g. Operations, Quality, and Technical teams).
Track, monitor, and trend performance using metrics and key performance indicators.
Develop and implement new engineering processes or technologies to support new product introduction and implementation of new equipment systems.
Provide engineering support in resolving product non-conformance and customer issues, through engineering root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventative equipment and systems modifications.
Travel required occasionally - may involve overnight travel.
Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals, odours, noise, and machines, which requires appropriate PPE.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
4+ years' progressive experience in manufacturing, preferably in the flexible packaging industry.
Front line operational experience required.
Passion for Continuous Improvement. Experience in leading and managing improvement activities.
Proficient with MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. MS Project and MS Access are considered a plus.
Able to read engineering drawings generated in AutoCAD / Solidworks.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate with all levels within the organization.
Able to work under minimal supervision.
Able to drive change and manage multiple priorities that may conflict.
Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong attention to detail and effective organizational skills.
Experience with TPM, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TQM preferred.
