Northern Industrial Construction is currently seeking an experienced Project Manager for our company. This position is based in our Yellowknife office and you will be taking a critical role in managing construction projects across the Northwest Territories, Yukon, and Nunavut. Please note that this position requires you to be located or willing to relocate to Yellowknife. We are not accepting applications for remote work or rotational work.   • Develops a cost-effective plan and schedule for completion of project following a logical pattern for utilization of resources.
  • Minimizes exposure and risk by implementing safety standards and quality assurance controls.
  • Coordinates work of subcontractors working on various phases of multiple projects.
  • Oversees performance of all trade contractors and reviews engineering drawings to make sure that all specifications and regulations are being followed.
  • Is responsible for proper administration of construction contracts and for obtaining all necessary permits and licenses.
  • Supervises assistant managers and superintendents, reviews their reports, checks on any reported difficulties, and corrects any safety or quality violations or other reported deficiencies.
  • Tracks and controls construction schedule and associated costs to achieve completion of projects within time and monies allocated.
  • Reports to owner, engineers and portfolio managers about progress and any necessary modifications of plans that seem indicated. Plans, implements, tracks and closeout / turnover of construction projects. Conducts project meetings.
  • Manages day to day operational and tactical aspects of multiple construction projects in a supervisory role.
Manages
  • Accurately forecasts revenue, profitability and project costs.
  • Manages to and achieves or exceeds revenue goals set for projects.
  • Generates and issues regular internal and external project reporting
  • Proactively identifies changes in project scope and ensures appropriate measures are taken.
  • Projects changes in scope and revenue.
  • Administers Submittal Review process between Subcontractors/Suppliers and the owner or owner\xe2\x80\x99s rep.
  • Review field inspection reports from Consultants throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Keep management others informed about project status and issues that may impact client relations.
  • Periodic and relatively short-term travel will be required on out-of-town projects.
Project Delivery
  • The Project Manager is given authority to execute projects that have been assigned by the Construction Manager
  • With approval from the President, hire, discharge, promote, demote or discipline the personnel.
  • Take any reasonable action necessary to carry out the responsibilities of management, so long as it is consistent with company policies and sound business judgement.
  • Take any reasonable action necessary to ensure all operations are conducted in a safe, compliant manner and in accordance with all company safety policies day to day client interactions and expectations, directly or in a supervisory role.
  • Responsible for the successful implementation and installation of assigned projects. Success being defined as quality in scope, a \xe2\x80\x9c0\xe2\x80\x9d incident frequency, under budget, ahead of schedule and client satisfaction.
  • Communicate all cost controls, tax implications, financial and commercial terms of the contract with Finance.
  • Complete regular cost report forecasts.
  • Implement and maintain a seamless project kick-off process and turn-over from Estimating to Project Management and Field Supervision.
  • Ensure all applicable project specific safety, environmental and quality protocols are developed, implemented and maintained.
  • Ensure Field Supervision have a clear and concise understanding of the work.
  • Develop, implement and maintain an effective project planning and reporting system for all Field Supervision.
  • Ensure all project equipment requirements are identified at the project kick-off.
  • Ensure best possible vendor quotations are received and the effective procurement thereof.
  • Ensure all contracts and sub-contracts are in order, along with project specific insurance and bonding requirements.
  • Responsible for the on-site management of sub-contractors and ensuring that these sub-contractors fulfill their contractual obligations in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Implement and maintain a seamless project close-out and commissioning process and turn-over to the Owner.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Installs procedures and controls to promote communication and adequate information flow within the company.
  • Ensures that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.
  • Ensure that all employees, who report to this position, have the required capability and training to fulfil their duties.
  • Manage and direct safety activities in regards to compliance with company policies, standards and government regulations in the Operations function.
  • Ensure effective quality control and that corrective action takes place to be certain that complete customer satisfaction is achieved.
  • Develops and executes operations plans and budgets based on company goals and objectives.
Technical Requirements
  • An advanced degree in business or an applicable technology is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in senior management. Experience in general contracting processes used by municipal governments is essential.
  • Ability to identify and prioritize financial, operational and personnel problem areas combined with the ability to solve problems and execute policies and procedures through a management team.
  • Able to physically observe operations, listen and actively participate in communicating effectively with employees, clients and public.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in the English language on all technical and business levels.
Authority

Job Type: Full-time Salary: $89,679.43-$127,907.01 per year Benefits:
