Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Substation Construction Services, the Project Manager is responsible for providing support, guidance, information, and assistance the leadership, management, and employees of Valard in the following areas.

Manage Projects Start Up

  • Establish resource requirements for projects
  • Coordinate with customer to determine timing for site work to commence
  • Establish and prepare reporting requirements for the projects
  • Making sure manpower and equipment needs are met while working with the Site Supervisors
  • Submit initial startup documents to customers
  • Coordinate initial start-up meetings for projects
Manage Project Execution
  • Responsible for all aspects of field construction
  • Work with all other team members to ensure the successful execution of projects
  • Attend meetings as required by the customer or as necessary internally to ensure status of the project is communicated appropriately to all stakeholders and participating parties.
  • Manage subcontractor relationships and performance
  • Submitting and receiving RFIs and Change orders from the client
  • Understanding the full scope of work in the project
  • Review and updating of project schedules
  • Updating progress reports and documents relating to the Contract
  • Monitor Costs on projects
  • Monitor Quality on projects
  • Monitor Scope on projects and identify deviations to customers and construction team.
  • Prepare and submit periodic reports
  • Identify concerns to senior management work with all appropriate team members to resolve issues.
Project Close-out
  • Prepare final packages for submittal to customer
  • Prepare final packages for Valard records
  • Identify final scope of project
  • Identify final cost on the project
Contract Reviews
  • Review contract requirements for successful proposals.
  • Assist with contract negotiations for potential subcontractors
Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Post-Secondary Degree
  • Minimum 5 year project management experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office applications
  • PMP designation, or in process of obtaining the PMP designation
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy confidentiality concerning employee and project information
  • An asset if understand P6 and Critical Path Scheduling

  • Considerable knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures.

  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple work groups staffed with a diverse group of employees.
  • Knowledge of Excel spread sheets, bar graphs, and progress curves
