Job Duties

Information Technology Services (ITS) enables an environment where students, faculty and staff have the technologies, systems, services, and digital literacy to do their very best work, feel engaged, supported, and have fun while doing it! As a key member of the ITS team and IT Project Management Office (ITPMO), the IT Project Manager is responsible for the direction coordination, execution, control, and completion of projects for Information Technology Services. The IT Project Manager is leading dynamic, highly driven teams consisting of technical experts, business representatives, and consultants while overseeing several projects in a broad spectrum of disciplines including:

  • implementation and integration of business systems and software (COTS and custom)
  • automation and process improvement
  • hardware and infrastructure renewal



IT Project Managers will ensure that projects follow project management standards, best practices, and incorporate organizational change management throughout the lifecycle of their projects. The IT Project Manager is also responsible for ensuring the continuous improvement of project management processes and the services of the ITPMO Office as well as accurate information collection and reporting into the IT Portfolio Office. Occasionally, the IT Project Manager may provide advisory or consulting support to other project and portfolio management areas of the organization.

In accordance with the Sask Polytechnic\xe2\x80\x99s Work From Home policy, IT Project Managers may be eligible to work remotely while reporting to one of Sask Polytech\xe2\x80\x99s main campus locations.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Duties



Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)
1. Two year Diploma in Information Technology or Business Administration or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
2. Eight years (8) years direct work experience in an enterprise information technology environment with demonstrated expert knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
a. Project Management
b. Business Analysis
c. Application development frameworks and methodologies
d. IT infrastructure implementation projects
e. Change Management
3. Demonstrated experience with project management principles
4. Strong interpersonal skills
5. Experience leading groups and engaging people in developing and working towards shared goals
6. Effective analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
7. Effective organizational and time management skills
8. Strong oral and written communication skills
9. Strong facilitation skills
10. Demonstrated ability to identify and manage project stakeholders.
11. Values diversity
