About Thunder Bay Community Tennis Centre



The Thunder Bay Community Tennis Centre is embarking on an exciting expansion with the construction of a new indoor tennis facility, transforming our operations from seasonal to year-round programming. We are seeking a motivated and eager-to-learn Project Manager Intern to support this transition and gain valuable hands-on experience in sports facility management, project coordination, and community programming. This one-year internship, supported by the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), provides an excellent opportunity for professional development in the recreation and sports industry.

Position Overview



We are looking for an enthusiastic and organized Project Manager Intern to support multiple facets of our facility's operations and expansion. This one-year internship offers comprehensive experience in project management, marketing, operations, and community engagement during this transformative period.

Key Responsibilities



Facility Operations & Management



Manage front desk operations and customer service Oversee the construction of the new indoor tennis facility Prepare for the grand opening of the expanded facility Manage the transition from seasonal to year-round operations Learn and understand operational components of tennis facility infrastructure, including bubble systems Work closely with the Facility Manager to understand new facility components and systems

Marketing & Communications



Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote facility services and programs Manage social media accounts and create engaging content Handle internal and external communications Coordinate promotional activities and community outreach

Events & Fundraising



Organize and coordinate fundraising initiatives Plan and execute social events and community programs Support membership drives and retention efforts

Program Development & Collaboration



Collaborate with the Tennis Director to oversee development and implementation of new programs Assist in program scheduling and coordination Support the expansion of tennis programming for all skill levels and age groups

Financial & Administrative Support



Work with the Treasurer to ensure timely completion of grant applications and reporting Assist with bookkeeping activities through the construction phase Support budget tracking and financial documentation

Required Qualifications



Recent graduate or current student Experience in sports facility management or recreational programming Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in social media platforms and digital marketing Interest in event planning and coordination Basic understanding of administrative processes Ability to work independently and as part of a team Eagerness to learn and develop professional skills

Preferred Qualifications



Previous internship or volunteer experience in sports, recreation, or community organizations Interest in construction project coordination Experience with fundraising or event planning Knowledge of tennis or racquet sports Experience working with community organizations and volunteers

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Customer service focused Adaptable and flexible in a dynamic environment Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Financial literacy and budget management capabilities
