Geomega Resources Inc. is a pioneering Canadian clean technology company at the forefront of developing innovative processing technologies for the extraction, refining, and recycling of rare earth elements and other critical metals. Based in the Greater Montreal area with facilities in Boucherville and Saint-Hubert, Quebec, Geomega is building sustainable solutions for the critical metals industry that are essential for electric vehicles, renewable energy, and advanced manufacturing sectors.

Our company specializes in rare earth magnet recycling and has developed proprietary technologies, environmentally friendly, iron-friendly hydrometallurgical process that achieves over 95% reagent recovery, produces minimal waste, and delivers critical mineral concentrate. We are currently advancing our rare earth recycling demonstration plant and have recently signed a landmark Joint Development Agreement with Rio Tinto for bauxite residue valorization technology.

Within the last decade, Geomega has established a robust intellectual property portfolio with multiple patents in hydrometallurgical extraction processes. Our team of approximately 20 employees includes researchers, engineers, and technical specialists dedicated to transforming industrial waste and other secondary resources into valuable critical metal products.

Organizational Structure



The Project Manager will coordinate and facilitate collaboration among three major functional groups:

1. Research & Science Team:

Responsible for preparing proposals, technical reports, patent applications, scientific documentation, and research publications

2. Laboratory & Pilot-Scale Operations Team:

Conducting testwork, running experiments, operating pilot equipment, and generating process data at bench, lab, and pilot scales

3. Engineering Team:

Engaged in design of pilot and demonstration plants, scale-up activities, vendor communications, contractor management, and construction oversight

While the CTO provides the overall strategy, R&D direction, and defines main technical tasks, the Project Manager ensures seamless execution by planning, supervising, coordinating, and troubleshooting throughout a project's lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities



Project Planning & Execution



Develop comprehensive project plans including scope definition, work breakdown structures, schedules, resource allocation, and budget estimates for R&D, testwork, and engineering projects Translate strategic objectives from the CTO into actionable project plans with clear milestones, deliverables, and timelines Establish project baselines and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure progress against time, cost, and quality targets Coordinate procurement activities including equipment specification, vendor selection, purchase order management, and delivery tracking

Cross-Functional Coordination



Serve as the central coordination point connecting researchers, laboratory technicians, engineers, vendors, contractors, and construction companies Facilitate regular communication and meetings among the three functional groups to ensure alignment and information flow Manage interfaces between internal teams and external stakeholders including government agencies, funding organizations, research partners, and commercial clients Ensure timely information exchange to prevent bottlenecks and maintain project momentum

Project Monitoring & Control



Conduct regular follow-ups and progress reviews to ensure projects proceed according to plan Monitor project schedules, budgets, and resource utilization; identify variances and implement corrective actions Track and manage project risks, issues, and change requests; develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans Maintain project documentation including plans, schedules, meeting minutes, status reports, and decision logs

Quality Assurance & Compliance



Review project deliverables including technical reports, experimental data, design documents, and patent applications to ensure quality standards are met Verify that research protocols, testwork procedures, and engineering designs comply with relevant standards, regulations, and safety requirements Coordinate reviews and approvals of technical documents and project outputs Ensure proper documentation and traceability throughout a project lifecycle

Issue Resolution & Risk Management



Identify and raise red flags when projects encounter obstacles, delays, or technical challenges Facilitate problem-solving sessions bringing together appropriate team members and subject matter experts Regulate hiccups during execution by coordinating rapid responses to unexpected issues Escalate critical issues to the C-Level with recommended solutions and risk assessments

Stakeholder Communication



Prepare and present regular project status reports to the C-Level Communicate project progress, challenges, and achievements to internal and external stakeholders Coordinate reporting requirements for government funding programs and research grants Manage expectations and maintain positive relationships with all project stakeholders

Resource Management



Coordinate resource allocation across multiple concurrent projects Work with functional managers to ensure appropriate staffing and expertise availability Manage project budgets including expense tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis Optimize resource utilization to maximize project efficiency and minimize costs

Required Qualifications



Education



Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Metallurgical, Process, Mining, or related discipline)

required

Master's degree or advanced technical degree is an

asset

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is

highly preferred


Experience



Minimum 5-7 years of project management experience in technical or industrial environments Experience in metals processing, hydrometallurgy, chemical process development, mining, or related industries is

essential

Demonstrated experience managing projects across R&D, pilot-scale operations, and engineering/construction phases Experience coordinating multidisciplinary technical teams including researchers, engineers, and operations personnel Track record of successfully delivering projects on time, within budget, and meeting quality objectives

Technical Competencies



Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices Proficiency with project management software (MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent) Solid grasp of engineering and R&D processes, particularly in process development and scale-up Familiarity with pilot plant operations, demonstration facilities, and industrial equipment Understanding of technical documentation including process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and engineering specifications Knowledge of procurement processes, vendor management, and contract administration

Preferred Qualifications



Experience in rare earth elements, critical metals extraction, or recycling technologies Familiarity with hydrometallurgical processes, separation technologies, or chemical engineering applications Experience working with government-funded R&D projects and compliance with reporting requirements Knowledge of intellectual property development processes including patent applications Experience managing projects in regulated industries with environmental and safety considerations Previous work with demonstration plants, pilot facilities, or technology scale-up initiatives Understanding of construction management and contractor coordination Familiarity with Quebec and Canadian mining/metals industry regulations

Work Location

Geomega is centralizing its operations including R&D laboratories, pilot facilities, and demonstration plant in Saint-Hubert, providing a collaborative environment where all technical activities are co-located. For now activities take place at both the Boucherville and Saint-Hubert locations.

Pay: $80,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
