Project Manager - Carve-out IT Program (Oracle, Workday, ~100 Applications)
Mandate Description
The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the IT Carve-out program for two engineering firms, covering approximately one hundred business and technical applications, including key enterprise platforms such as Oracle and Workday. The role ensures the separation, migration, and stabilization of the targeted IT ecosystem while minimizing operational disruption.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Governance & Planning
Develop and maintain the overall Carve-out master plan (scope, schedule, milestones, dependencies, risks).
Define the separation strategy for applications, data, and infrastructure.
Coordinate with legal, finance, cybersecurity, HRIS, and enterprise architecture teams.
Establish program governance, reporting rhythms, and decision-making structures.
2. Application Separation & Migration
Oversee the end-to-end separation process for ~100 applications, including:
dependency mapping
separation design
data extraction/migration
cutover planning
decommissioning or redeployment
Manage the specific carve-out streams for Oracle ERP and Workday HCM, including data boundaries, configurations, tenant separation, and integration decoupling.
3. Technical Leadership & Vendor Management
Coordinate system integrators, cloud/infra teams, and software vendors.
Ensure alignment of technical deliverables with the target IT architecture.
Manage contracts, SOWs, and performance of external partners.
4. Risk, Issue, and Impact Management
Identify and mitigate operational, cybersecurity, and regulatory risks associated with the carve-out.
Monitor application and data readiness, cutover risks, and business continuity impacts.
Ensure compliance with audit, security, and data governance requirements.
5. Stakeholder & Communication Management
Lead communication with business units, functional owners, and executive steering committees.
Present progress updates, risk escalations, and readiness assessments.
Coordinate organizational readiness, training, and change-management activities.
6. Cutover & Post-Separation Stabilization
Lead cutover planning, execution, and validation across all impacted applications.
Establish hypercare support, stabilization metrics, and defect triage processes.
Ensure successful transition to steady-state operations for each application cluster.
Expected Outcomes
Successful and secure separation of IT assets for both engineering firms.
Minimal operational disruption to business processes (including ERP and HCM).
Full compliance with contractual carve-out obligations and timelines.
Clear documentation of the new application landscape, integrations, and processes.
Smooth transition to the target operating model for all technical and functional streams.
