The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for managing a variety of engineering projects on Green Line. This will entail supervising the project services portions of the project, including commercial, project controls, and document control. In addition, the position will oversee the engineering portion of the project. The Project Manager is accountable for the cost, schedule, risk, and quality of the project. Primary duties include:
  • Estimate resource requirements, effectively acquire project resources, and manage their use efficiently.
  • Oversee project delivery, ensuring that it is on time, as per scope, and within the allocated budget.
  • Provide appropriate oversight for the monitoring and control of cost, schedule, and risk.
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate project risk.
  • Lead regular internal and external meetings to maintain proper communication and integration with interested parties. Provide regular project reporting to interested parties per requirements.
  • Ensure proper record of meeting minutes, action lists, and maintenance of decision logs.
  • Lead and/or provide expert level technical knowledge and guidance in project delivery of highly complex and technically challenging projects.
  • Ensure that work performed complies with Green Line Light Rail Transit (LRT) procedures and the Corporate Project Management Framework (CPMF).
  • Ensure project deliverables comply with applicable codes and standards.
  • Develop a Project Execution Plan (PEP) and ensure that it is adhered to by the project team.
  • Follow a proper management of change process, appropriately documenting any changes to cost, schedule, and contract.
  • Approve project change management within Delegation of Authority (DOA) and coordinate approval of changes with appropriate level if exceeded.
  • Make certain that contractual obligations are being met.
  • Escalate issues that may result in a dispute to the appropriate Director in a timely manner.
  • Promote and steward a commitment to project health and a culture of safety.





Qualifications
  • A degree in Engineering, registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada, and current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) or licensure by the first day of work.
  • At least 7 years post professional engineering (P.Eng) experience is required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required.
  • The ability to communicate, understand, express, and apply technical, business, and administrative concepts is essential.
  • Superior organizational and time-management skills; the ability to meet deadlines; strong decision making and problem-solving ability; and a proven ability to multi-task and efficiently respond to changing priorities.

Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience

Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.




Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
