Overview:
Hexagon’s Autonomy & Positioning division is looking for a Project Manager to join our Applied Research team. This role supports the technical team by focusing on the non-technical details of Innovation activities.

Working in a world class research organization, reporting to the Intellectual Property Protection Manager, you will report the regular Innovation metrics, coordinate resources (people and things), facilitate meetings with small teams of cross-functional contributors, gather technical reporting, and document results and processes to ensure smooth technology transitions from Innovation into production. You like working with new ideas, and new concepts, in a casual yet professional environment. You are comfortable with the uncertainty that newness brings as well, aiming to manage that uncertainty rather than eliminate it completely. This position is with Hexagon’s Autonomy & Positioning division, a global technology leader, pioneering end-to-end solutions industry leaders rely on for assured positioning and autonomy on land, sea and air. As a Project Manager, you will:

  • Create and present regular reporting of Innovation activity status, effort, and costs
  • Monitor ongoing activity metrics
  • Support purchasing, budgeting, and financial reporting for the Applied Research team
  • Negotiate external resource support for pre-development activities
  • Support Innovation planning and other strategic activities
  • Actively contribute to ongoing continuous improvement initiatives and process improvements, by identifying new opportunities and leading or assisting with implementations
  • Coordinate and develop technical reporting related to the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) tax credit.
Qualifications: Must-Have:
  • B.Sc. in Engineering or Computer Science, Technical Diploma or relevant electrical or computer experience
  • Solid understanding of project management methodologies with a minimum of 3 years of project management experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of combined product development and project management experience
  • Able to analyze and address complex issues with team members and stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal skills for fostering productive relationships and creating a cohesive team atmosphere
  • Experience with project management and collaboration tools. You are good at Excel.
  • Able to multitask and adapt to changing priorities, demands and timelines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Critical thinking skills for identifying cause and effect
  • Effective communication and team skills. You can find a way to reach understanding with deeply technical people as well as finance people.

Nice-to-Have:
  • Familiar with hardware and software design as well as development practices
  • Experience with proof-of-concept to implementation transitions
  • Familiar with GNSS receiver design, positioning techniques, and/or related technologies
