The Project Engineering Representative reports administratively to the Project Delivery Manager and functionally to the Manager, Commissioning & Project Engineering. Do you like to be in a role where you will lead the delivery of the project\xe2\x80\x99s design and engineering deliverables? Analyzing and solving problems using standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures or previously developed methods; estimating costs and assisting in the preparation of commercial/business proposals? What will you be doing!

  • Developing and preparing technical specifications and work scopes;
  • Assisting in the selection of design participants and in the award of design contracts;
  • Participating in leading engineering surveillance activities and assessing the design in progress, including the review of key design documents to verify that design requirements are met;
  • Ensuring adequate independent (third party) technical review of the design;
  • Participating in preparing submissions of key technical and safety-related documents to the Delegate Design Authority or the Chief Nuclear Engineer for review;
  • Facilitating the transfer of specialized design knowledge to CNL;
  • Assessing equipment options and making recommendations;
  • Assisting the Project Lead and Project Control Representative in developing project work packages, including deliverables, budgets and schedules;
  • Participating in the preparing technical documents, work scopes and engineering surveillance plans, and performing surveillance of design, construction and commissioning activities of suppliers;
  • Identifying, assessing and initiating changes relative to the project scope statement in accordance with project change control ; and
  • Interfacing with design participants, operations engineers, technical staff and nuclear operators to provide technical support during all phases of the project, as required in order to meet project objectives.
  • Planning to achieve prescribed objectives.
  • Making independent studies, analyzing, interpreting and concluding.
  • Developing novel engineering techniques or modifying existing equipment, facilities, or processes.
  • Preparing complex reports and specifications.
  • Giving presentations to customers and contributing to technical journals.
What we are looking for:
  • Knowledge of engineering codes and standards used in the design, construction, and commissioning of nuclear processing facilities.
  • Knowledge of CNL\xe2\x80\x99s practices, organization and Quality Assurance processes.
  • Good understanding of radiation protection (RP) standards and CRL RP practices.
  • Additional training per CNL\xe2\x80\x99s Project Team Training Plan (145-510220-TPL-002) as required.
  • General computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
  • Good interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Technical writing skills
  • Seven (7) to fifteen (15) years of relevant experience with 5 years operational experience in a licensed nuclear facility, or otherwise heavily regulated facility operations environment.
  • Experienced in dealing with engineering contractors
  • Eligible to obtain PEO Professional designation (P.Eng); P.Eng is preferred
  • At a minimum, Bachelor (Honours) in Engineering from a university of recognized standing
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred or membership in an engineering or scientific professional organization authorized by statute to establish qualification for membership in that organization
  • Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat \xe2\x80\x9cStandard on Security Screening\xe2\x80\x9d and the \xe2\x80\x9cPolicy on Government Security\xe2\x80\x9d.
