We have state-of-the-art potato processing plants in Prince Edward Island, Lethbridge, Alberta, and Jamestown, North Dakota, and an appetizer plant in Wheatley, Ontario. Our Head office is in Dieppe, New Brunswick and has sales office locations in Toronto, Montreal, and Boston.Position SummaryThe incumbent will lead various projects and new equipment installation to be at a high level of quality, on time, and on budget. The Project Engineer will be a self-starter with a strong work ethic, \xe2\x80\x9cCan Do\xe2\x80\x9d attitude and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment and is also responsible to be out in the plant, identify and follow through on improvements for day-to-day operations.The successful applicant will also work with corporate engineering group on various projects.Relationships and ContactsThis person reports directly to the Engineering and Maintenance ManagerMajor Responsibilities\xc2\xb7 Develop and manage capital projects from preliminary discussions to installation and commissioning. Including:\xc2\xb7 Scope definition\xc2\xb7 Consultant management\xc2\xb7 Equipment specifications\xc2\xb7 Budget estimation & preparing tender packages.\xc2\xb7 Drawing review & schedule development\xc2\xb7 Procurement & Contractor supervision\xc2\xb7 Commissioning and follow-up\xc2\xb7 Manage information exchange between operations, maintenance, engineering, and vendors for assigned areas of responsibility.\xc2\xb7 Ensure that projects are on time and budget.\xc2\xb7 Interact with various departments that are impacted by plant to ensure the best solution and design is being engineered.\xc2\xb7 Ensure various options are researched and reviewed for equipment, processes etc.\xc2\xb7 Determine how automation can be included in the project.\xc2\xb7 Recommend equipment for purchase.\xc2\xb7 Conduct meetings and coordinate communication between team members.\xc2\xb7 Safety of equipment design and of the working team.\xc2\xb7 Tracking of project details to ensure milestones and targets are met.\xc2\xb7 Take project lead of power distribution, automation, controls, instrumentation, networking, and other electrical works.\xc2\xb7 Provide technical support to maintain existing electrical infrastructure.\xc2\xb7 Help troubleshoot issues with electrical systems such as power distribution, motor controls, and PLC\xe2\x80\x99sQualifications and Abilities\xc2\xb7 Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, Chemical or equivalent degree.\xc2\xb7 Five years of relevant experience.\xc2\xb7 Exposure to a food operating plant environment would be an asset.\xc2\xb7 Strong verbal and written communication skills.\xc2\xb7 Ability to multi-task.\xc2\xb7 Strong time management and organizational skills.\xc2\xb7 Understanding of quality and timeline expectations from all work streams\xc2\xb7 Ability to take action to resolve issues that may arise.\xc2\xb7 Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage conflict and build teams.\xc2\xb7 Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD would be an asset.\xc2\xb7 A proven track record of being pro-active and taking initiative.\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of the following codes and standards would be an asset: Safeguarding of Machinery, Occupational Health and Safety, Lock Out & Tag Out, Confined Space Awareness, and Working from Heights.\xc2\xb7 General Awareness of the Canadian Electrical Code and industrial best practices is an asset.Cavendish Farms is proud to offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including but not limited to:
