Working for Pembina means working safely.Overview:PKM Canada Marine Terminal LP is recruiting for a Project Engineer, Operations Engineering to the join the team. This position is based at the Vancouver Wharves terminal located in North Vancouver, B.C and reports to the Supervisor, Operations Engineering in the Natural Gas Liquids Business Unit (NBU), part of Pembina\'s Facilities Division. The Vancouver Wharves terminal handles bulk cargo including mineral concentrates, diesel, sulphur, and grain products on behalf of customers.NBU is involved in the Fractionation, Terminaling & Storage, and Logistics and Distribution of specification natural gas liquids throughout north America. Natural Gas Liquids are components of natural gas classified by weight and number of carbon atoms - Methane (C1), Ethane (C2), Propane (C3) Butane (C4) and Condensate (mixture of C5+). Fractionation involves separating the different products in an NGL mix out into Ethane, Propane and Butane.The Project Engineer will be responsible for a portfolio of civil/structural and/or mechanical sustaining capital projects from inception to commissioning, including project management, overseeing project definition, planning, field execution, and close out of projects. The portfolio focuses on improving existing assets, extending their service life, and implementing production and operational efficiencies. The Project Engineer will act as a technical resource for the development and delivery of the terminal\'s standards.Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Drive and support improvements to the civil /structural and/or mechanical (bulk handling) infrastructure;
  • Provide engineering support to the operations and maintenance teams;
  • Identify, justify, design, estimate, schedule, and execute sustaining capital improvements and operating expense projects in accordance with Pembina\'s processes and procedures under Project Delivery & Governance Lifecycle (PDGL), Management of Change (MOC) and Portfolio & Project Management (PPM);
  • Manage projects from scope development, conceptual design, detailed design, construction, to commissioning and post-project support;
  • Analyze costs and track expenditures, as well as verifying invoices and overseeing third-party work;
  • Document post-project reports to identify both successes and challenges encountered;
  • Work with our procurement and contract teams to prepare Request for Proposal (RFP) packages and review proposals to select successful bidders;
  • Interact with a wide range of third parties, including overseeing design consultants, engineering firms, industry specialists, service providers, and equipment vendors;
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders and a unionized labour force to execute projects and perform recommended upgrades and repairs;
  • Work with supervisor to develop sustaining capital plans and budgets;
  • Evaluate and adopt new technology at the site as needed;
  • Manage multiple projects while providing necessary support to the operations team;
  • Support other members of the engineering team as applicable and as required on multidisciplinary projects;
  • Supervise contractor work and conduct field reviews; and
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
Qualifications:
  • Progressive experience in planning and managing of civil/structural and/or bulk handling improvement projects in a heavy industrial environment such as ports, mining, energy, or manufacturing;
  • Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, and/or Mechanical Engineering (Integrated Engineering or Engineering Physics with relevant industrial experience in civil/structural and/or mechanical fields will also be considered);
  • Professional Engineer, registered with EGBC;
  • Experience in writing Request for Proposals (RPFs), interpreting multidisciplinary engineering drawings, performing cost projections, forecasting, budgeting, and managing project costs;
  • Experience in engineering design, with a strong understanding of construction materials and methodologies;
  • Familiarity with the BC Building Code and other applicable provincial and municipal regulatory requirements;
  • Understanding of bulk handling systems and equipment, mechanical power transmission systems, and hydraulic systems is considered an asset;
  • Proficiency using standard engineering software and tools such as AutoCAD, CMMS, and MS Office suite;
  • Familiarity with SAP project management system is considered an asset;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently, and able to prioritize multiple tasks effectively;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Fully aligns with and actively demonstrates a commitment to Pembina\'s values;
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment;
  • Broad knowledge of industrial equipment and facilities is considered an asset; and
  • Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as required to ensure minimal disruption to operations or maintenance schedules.

You may also be required to provide a Driver\'s Abstract.BC Pay Transparency Requirement: The base salary range for this position is $135,900.00 CAD to $151,000.00 CAD. Actual total compensation may differ based on candidate\'s qualifications and location.The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position.
