:The Opportunity:Project Engineer for our Hydrotechnical / Water Resources group within the Transportation and Infrastructure business in British Columbia, Canada. We are looking for candidates who can bring their skills and experience to lead our hydrotechnical projects, work closely with our staff and clients, and deliver high-quality projects from start to finish. You will have the opportunity to work on road and highway infrastructure projects that involve bridges, culverts, river training, erosion protection works, and other surface water components. You will also have the chance to contribute to multidisciplinary projects with a range of complexity for Federal, Provincial, and Municipal clients within Canada, with a focus on BC and the Yukon.The location for this role is flexible within British Columbia (e.g. Victoria, Nanaimo, Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops, Prince George, Smithers, Fort St. John, etc).   • You are expected to be involved with, or leading, or managing, multi-disciplinary projects from beginning to end including the proposal, planning, options assessment, design, and construction phases.
  • Project management planning and implementation including scope, schedule, budget, and quality control.
  • Technical skills in the development of hydrotechnical engineering design solutions for a variety of interesting projects related to bridges and culverts, hydrology, climate change, river engineering, flood and erosion management, dike design and repair, debris flood/flow management, channel improvements, habitat enhancements, hydraulic structures, hydraulic modeling (1D and 2D), and highway drainage.
  • Participate in the success and growth of the team by providing mentoring to junior staff, and by helping to develop technical tools and resources.
  • Preparation and review of deliverables including drawings, cost estimates, technical specifications, construction documents, and field reviews.
  • Coordination within multidisciplinary teams and providing guidance to other staff.
  • Working with clients directly or in a supporting role, developing and sustaining positive business relationships.
  • Ability to travel occasionally is desirable for design and construction field services.
What you'll bring to WSP:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC is a requirement.
  • Minimum 6-12 years of related consulting experience working in an engineering or project management role, with a focus on water resources projects
  • Current knowledge of Provincial and Federal standards and guidelines related to hydrotechnical components of transportation projects.
  • Experience with BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and Federal Government processes, standards, and guidelines is an asset.
  • Advanced understanding and commitment to technical excellence related to hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, analysis and design.
  • Experience with general civil engineering design and construction. Specific experience with bridge and highway design is an asset.
  • Computer skills and experience with hydrotechnical software such as: Hyfran, HEC-RAS 1D and 2D, HY-8, ArcGIS, Global Mapper, and Civil 3D.
  • Critical thinking skills for problem-solving and finding efficient, innovative, and practical solutions to engineering challenges.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with internal and external clients and stakeholders.
  • A team player attitude and the ability to motivate and lead by example.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work in a team as well as independently on multiple projects.
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver's License an asset.
CompensationExpected Salary (British Columbia): $91,200 - $125,400The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
