Project Engineer, Asset Management



Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Asset Management, the Project Engineer, Asset Management is a key position in developing and implementing corporate standards for asset planning and reporting. This position collaborates with internal stakeholders to collect and maintain asset inventories and attribute data (e.g. condition, useful service life, replacement costs) and supports the development and maintenance of asset management plans for CRD services.

Qualifications
  • Degree in engineering plus six (6) years of progressive experience in asset management, related to infrastructure planning and/or operations, preferably in local government. An equivalent combination of experience and education will also be considered.
  • Certifications in any of the following would be considered an asset: asset management, finance/accounting, project management, and change management.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a membership with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Licence.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
People working in this role can expect to be responsible for performing the following duties. This list is not meant to be comprehensive and other related duties similar in scope and complexity may be performed.
  • Leads the development and implementation of standardized asset management practices, processes, and tools.
  • Collaborates with services to complete asset management plans based on corporate standards and guidelines and industry best practices.
  • Acts as a resource to CRD staff by providing professional and technical expertise, guidance, and direction on asset management related matters.
  • Leads and supports the monitoring and completion of actions and targets within the Corporate Asset Management Strategy, as assigned.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to identify data, resources, and tools required to advance asset management activities.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and collaborations with associations and communities of practice in asset management.
  • Provides contract oversight and administration including overseeing, directing, and liaising with consultants.
  • Applies project management skills to deliver projects on time and within scope and budget.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders across the organization.
  • Prepares written reports and presentations that can be understood by both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Follows all policies, procedures, and standards of the CRD.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
To be successful at the CRD, candidates should have a shared understanding of our Cultural Traits and Statement of Reconciliation with Indigenous peoples. Additionally, ideal candidates would possess the following role specific knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Highly developed problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify problems and solutions based on experience and/or research.
  • Results-oriented, energetic team player, who is able to collaborate effectively with diverse groups of professionals and across multiple disciplines.
  • Knowledge of asset management theory and practice, preferably in local government.
  • Ability to conceptualize and analyze problems from different viewpoints.
  • Advanced software skills in MS Office Suite; experience in ArcGIS and SAP is an asset.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Motivates and supports others to achieve corporate asset management goals.
