The Project Designer Supervisor leads and manages the Project Design Coordinators Team including the responsibility to schedule and manage the work load requirements for his or her dedicated team. The Project Designer Supervisor will work closely with the Manager of Project Design in assigning workloads to the team to address the needs for shop drawings, RFP's and other engineering task needs as may be required from time to time. This will include the procurement & management of external freelancers at his/her discretion as may be required at times in order to meet the immediate needs of the workload & business in general. The Project Designer Supervisor will also have specific role responsibilities which could include shop drawing production and or project management functions. The Project Designer Supervisor leverages an architectural background and their detailed knowledge of the full line of Decoustics products in order to be able to collaborate with architects, designers, and other external clients to facilitate the design of their projects. The Supervisor will also work closely with other Product Development + staff as may be required when the integration of custom solutions is required for specific projects. The Supervisor will ensure that schedule/timeline requirements are addressed as necessary in order to meet the internal and external needs of the client as well as to develop and support Decoustics sales requirements.

  • Supervise, lead, train, and develop the Project Design Coordinators.
  • Conduct Project Designer reviews, track performance and objectives.
  • Review and validate Project Design Coordinators tasks as may be deemed necessary- review and release to other departments for their internal and external needs.
  • Assist internal and external customers with design and technical inquiries to address specific design needs.
  • Create high-quality technical details for potential use for website, product guides, and other marketing materials that utilize professional design language.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (DSOP) for the Design Team
  • Contribute to the definition and development of CAD procedures. Implement and maintain compliance with such procedures.
  • Define, identify and implement training as may be required to ensure alignment with the Engineering Standards and compliance with staff development plans etc.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Research and compile data as may be required in order to complete shop drawings for a proprietary product or design.
  • Utilize AutoCAD/Solidworks to compile detailed shop drawings in order to meet the design intent using product specific solutions.
  • Provide project status reviews on a regular basis to Project Managers and Sr. Management.
  • Communicate and follow up with internal customers as it relates to project specifics and deadlines
  • Ensure the team members support Project Manager and customer expectations.
  • Ensure that all aspects of assigned projects are properly and thoroughly executed & documented.
  • Communicate project requirements and status across functional teams
  • Manage own time in order to meet required deadlines for Project Management tasks or Project Design Coordinator tasks (current set roles).
  • Collaborate with other departments as required in order to trouble-shoot & resolve potential issues.
  • Full understanding of production drawings, e.g., standards, tolerances, machine capabilities, etc.
  • Assist in the preparation of production drawings for fabrication (internal and external vendors) if necessary.
Other responsibilities:
  • Continue to improve processes of the Project Design Team
  • Continue to develop knowledge base of existing products across all departments and assist with the development of potential new products
  • Participate in personal development and training as required
Additional Requirements

PROBLEM SOLVING
  • Ability to review and resolving design and production issues for sales and internal and external suppliers of product for orders.
Qualifications / Key competencies:
  • Architectural or Design-related college degree or engineering degree
  • 10 years minimum, advanced user of AutoCAD (2019 or later) with experience in commercial construction or equivalent with specific knowledge of Certainteed Architectural Celling Product Design
  • Compensation based on experience
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, production drawings, perform take-offs, and material optimizations
  • Advanced user of SolidWorks or other similar 3D software an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software; working knowledge of databases
  • File management, knows how to open, save, find, and copy files both on local workstation and over a network
  • Ability to follow specific AutoCAD/Solidworks standards as well as Standard Operating Procedures
  • High level attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks at the same time while maintaining deadlines
PREFERRED OR DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proficiency in 2D/3D software such as AutoCAD/Inventor/Solidworks/Revit
