The Position We are currently seeking a qualified Project Engineer for our growing company. This candidate will be responsible for the design completion and review from concept to final design for aerial pole line projects. This individual will work closely with project coordinators, clients, design technicians, and other engineers and must possess excellent communication skills. Responsibilities

• Reporting to the Manager of Engineering;
• Coordinate work activities with Project Managers, Project Coordinators, CAD designers, survey staff, and other Project Engineers;
• Aerial utility outside plant design in accordance with CSA and ESA: Wind and ice loading, Separations and clearances assessment; Detailed sag, tension, pole loading calculations;
• Mentor Junior engineers and/or Engineering Design Technicians as required;
• Prepare, sign, seal engineering reports, drawings and documents;
• Potentially: Prepare, review, QC, sign and seal Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) engineering document deliverables and assembling project deliverable packages, e.g. Subsurface Utility investigation reports, Test Pit results, CCTV Sewer Inspection Reports;
• The ongoing development of Planview USL\xe2\x80\x99s design standards and methodologies to further develop design and operational efficiencies;

Requirements

• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills;
• The ability to deal with multiple projects and conflicting deadlines;
• Engineering degree from an accredited educational institution with minimum 2 years work experience;
• Knowledge / expertise in structural analysis and design of reinforced concrete structures, structural steel and wood elements as well as SUE is an asset;
• Professional Engineer licensed in the Province of Ontario, with membership in good standing;
• Basic CAD skills (minimum).

Preferred Skills

• Experience with utility companies (i.e. electric, gas, telecom, fibre optic);
• Experience with municipal / civil infrastructure (i.e. water, storm, sewer);
• Civil/Structural engineering skills for buried utility outside plant design in accordance with CSA and ESA is an asset:: Trench details, Trenchless design;
• Design minimum required vertical and horizontal separations from other buried utilities;
• Design reinforced concrete structures such as utility maintenance chambers, pad mounted interfaces and retaining walls is an asset;
• Design structural steel components such as conduit hanger systems attached to bridge structures is an asset;
• Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) experience is an asset: Familiarity with Quality levels for underground utility infrastructure mapping; knowledge of the methods, practices, and procedures to provide SUE services; ability to apply ASCE 38 \xe2\x80\x9cStandard Guideline for the Collection and Depiction of Existing Subsurface Utility Data\xe2\x80\x9d and CSA S250 \xe2\x80\x9cMapping of underground utility infrastructure\xe2\x80\x9d standard Civil Engineering practices to assigned SUE projects;
• Consulting engineering work experience.

The Location Planview USL has 3 offices \xe2\x80\x93 Markham, London and Ottawa. Our clients and their projects are based throughout the province. This position will be based from the Markham office.
