Lower Fraser Valley Aboriginal Society (LFVAS) is accepting applications for a Project Coordinator for the Spirit Path Project. The Project coordinator, reporting to the Programs Manager will be responsible for increasing Lower Fraser Valley Aboriginal Society's capacity to address Gender Based Violence issues affecting self-identifying Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people on the traditional unceded territories of the Katzie, Kwantlen, Matsqui and Semiahmoo First Nations. The Spirit Path Project aims to identify and minimize gaps in accessible services, increase sustainable gender-based services provided by provincially and federally funded programs, increase community partnerships and consult with target population regarding their experiences and provide more access to meet their unique needs. The successful candidate will be able to develop a financial strategy that includes diverse and sustainable funding sources.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree in human services, social sciences, or social work
Minimum two years of experience in the community services sector
Experience working with Indigenous youth, families, or communities
Demonstrated knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples; experience implementing into programming an asset
Demonstrated working knowledge of community-based programs
Must be well versed in cultural sensitivity and have understanding and knowledge of Aboriginal culture, traditions and historical issues impacting urban Indigenous families
Demonstrated business communication, social perceptiveness, and interpersonal skills
Excellent computer literacy and knowledge of Office365 applications
Strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Must have a reliable vehicle, a valid BC driver's license, and provide a driver's abstract

Key Responsibilities & Duties:
Build and train a team, recruit contractors, who will help you develop planning which includes Gender Based Violence Programs
Perform gap analysis of GBV, identify key areas needed to sustain programming, and increase effectiveness of LFVAS' GBV programs.
Increase capacity for sourcing sustainable funding for GBV programs. Develop a financial strategy that includes sustainable funding which grows with the GBV needs.
Build partnerships/networks that collaborate to end GBV: Community Partners, Indigenous Communities, and clients.
Increase LFVAS' project management and accounting capacity to deliver sustainable GBV programs: train the leadership team, develop standard operating processes for the future, implement GBV training,
Build knowledge and evidence needed to end GBV: committees, local Elders and Knowledge Keepers, populations impacted by GBV. Compile this evidence and knowledge to inform GBC programming and women's health and wellness center.
Key Experience & Education:
Degree in human services, social sciences, social work, or related field.
Minimum two years' experience as a project coordinator in a non-profit setting.
Experience working with Indigenous women, families or communities.
Experience with gender-based violence issues.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of community-based programs,
Experience in grant writing, tracking funding reports, developing financial strategy to ensure sustainability
Demonstrated knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples; experience implementing into programming an asset,
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, pertinent regulations, policy, procedures, and other statutory and certification requirements (e.g., Mental Health Act, Child, Family and Community Service Act, Child Care Licensing, etc.)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office365 applications (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook)
Emergency First Aid with CPR/AED Level A or higher,

Must successfully complete Criminal Record Review for work with vulnerable adults and children
