The Project Coordinator supports the successful execution of reinforcing steel projects by coordinating documentation, scheduling, communication, and issue resolution between internal teams, contractors, detailers, and field personnel. This role contributes to efficient project delivery and strong stakeholder relationships by ensuring timely, accurate information flow and tracking project requirements. As part of a progressive path toward Project Manager, the Coordinator is expected to take on increasing responsibility, develop planning and estimating skills, and apply sound judgment in solving project-related problems.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities and Outcomes:
Project Planning Support
Project requirements are captured early and accurately, reducing rework and oversights.
Schedule risks are identified and flagged proactively, allowing for timely corrective action.
Document and Information Management
All drawings and changes are accurately logged, distributed promptly, and are easy to retrieve.
Stakeholders are consistently working from the most current information, reducing errors in fabrication or installation.
Change management processes are clear and auditable, enhancing accountability and transparency.
Information flow supports faster turnaround times and smoother coordination between trades.
Cost & Change Management Support
Pricing is consistently accurate and turned around quickly, enabling timely change order negotiations.
Project scope and cost implications are clearly understood by the Project Manager based on the Coordinator's input.
Profit leakage is minimized through early capture and documentation of extras.
Logistics and Delivery Coordination
Materials arrive on time and in the correct sequence, keeping field activities on track.
Delivery errors or site disruptions related to rebar logistics are minimized.
Field Communication & Issue Resolution
Field issues are resolved quickly, avoiding schedule delays or costly mistakes.
Communication loops are closed efficiently, reducing the Project Managers need to intervene.
Field teams feel supported and stay productive.
Potential conflicts or escalations are prevented through early visibility and intervention
Project Reporting & Stakeholder Visibility
Reports provide clear, accurate summaries that enable confident project decisions.
Red flags or delays are visible early, helping the team stay on top of risk.
Project Managers can rely on reporting to keep leadership and clients informed without duplication of effort.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge
Understanding of basic construction sequencing, delivery timelines, and project milestones.
Knowledge of key stakeholder roles (contractors, detailers, shipping, field personnel).
Knowledge of drawing control, change notice processes and document revision protocols.
Demonstrates working knowledge of basic take-off principles and cost-impact factors.
Understand delivery timelines, fabrication schedules, and contractor site needs.
Familiar with how field issues arise and affect schedule, quality, or relationships.
Knowledge of what constitutes effective project reporting for stakeholders.
Skills
Effectively uses scheduling tools to monitor target delivery dates and flag conflicts.
Skill in facilitating the flow of accurate and timely project information.
Skill in reading and interpreting rebar shop drawings and IFC drawings, as well as related specifications.
Can accurately track, log, and manage drawing changes and contractor communications.
Capable of preparing small-scale estimates for proposed changes.
Skill in coordinating with internal shipping teams and external contractors.
Effective at capturing, escalating, and tracking site-level questions or concerns.
Skill in consolidating data and information into summary reports for Project Managers.

Working Conditions:
Working/Physical Conditions
Office-based role with occasional travel for site visits and external meetings.
May require extended hours to meet critical project deadlines.
Regular use of computer systems and estimation software.
Education and Experience:
Note: A combination of education and experience outside of the standards below may also be considered.
Education
Diploma in a construction-related industry (e.g., Civil Engineering, Design Technology, Architecture).
Experience
Specific experience with rebar reinforcing is an asset.
Familiarity with industry-specific project management software (e.g., aSa, Monday.com).
Strong Microsoft Office skills.
