Project Coordinator (COASTS and Strategic External Relations Coordinator) Office of Public Engagement
(Two-year Contractual Position)
Memorial University\'s Office of Public Engagement is looking for a motivated and creative person to help shape and support the next phase of Memorial\'s Cold Ocean and Arctic Sciences, Technology, and Society (COASTS) initiative, and other strategic external relations functions. Memorial is a globally recognized leader in ocean-focused research, teaching & learning, and public engagement. This role will work as part of a small and dedicated team to help coordinate, connect, and communicate all of the big things related to oceans and Arctic/Northern that are happening across our campuses and locations. The COASTS and Strategic External Relations Coordinator, reporting to the Manager (Public Engagement) will support COASTS, and other external relations initiatives, providing coordination and operational support for strategy development, planning, tracking, internal and external communications, and some marketing. RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities for this position include: pan-Memorial tracking of and reporting on oceans-related goals/objectives, projects/initiatives, infrastructure, events, and expertise; supporting the development and execution of COASTS-related strategic, work, and communications planning; developing and executing COASTS-related marketing and communications materials, including website, presentations, documents, and social media posts; supporting the work of the COASTS Steering Committee; supporting strategic external relations; coordinating targeted initiatives and events; maintaining records of COASTS-related work; and other COASTS and strategic external relations-related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (3-5 years) in a professional environment is required, with a focus on project management, program coordination, and/or marketing and communications considered an asset; graduation with a Master\'s degree in any discipline; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Strong knowledge of and/or demonstrated experience working within Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Word, Excel, and Powerpoint) is required. Graphic design expertise/experience (e.g. Illustrator, Photoshop and/or Canva) is considered a strong asset. The ideal candidate will have high-level organizational, project management, time management, and written communication skills, as well as excellent attention to detail. An understanding of the ocean and Northern/Arctic sectors and/or government/university environments are considered assets.
