Contract length: 1 year with the possibility of renewal

Hours of work per week: 14.5 (2 days per week)

Rate of pay: $23.75/hr

About the Project


The Robotics, Mechatronics, and Automation Laboratory (RMAL) operates in the Department of Mechanical, Industrial, and Mechatronics Engineering (MIME) in the Faculty of Engineering & Architectural Science. The advertised position will support multidisciplinary research infrastructure funded by CFI
The infrastructure is to support the research of a multi-institutional consortium consisting of seven institutions across Canada, aiming at advancing the research related to aerial robotic manipulation. The infrastructure will be located in the North Campus of the partner institute Humber Polytechnique


The opportunity


The Robotics, mechatronics, and Automation Laboratory (RMAL) is seeking a Project Coordinator to support research initiatives under Dr. Farrokh Janabi-Sharifi's Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) project. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of cutting-edge research initiatives in the fields of robotics. The position is ideal for an organized and proactive professional who thrives in a dynamic research environment and enjoys supporting innovation in robotics and related technologies.


The Project Coordinator will facilitate the procurement and maintenance of important equipment purchased under the CFI project. Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) obtaining quotes for approved CFI-funded equipment, negotiating with vendors, preparing and submitting required purchasing documentation and coordinating orders for specialized equipment and components. The Project Coordinator will also organize and monitor equipment maintenance and repairs, schedule and coordinate project meetings and maintain accurate records of equipment use across multiple research projects.


As the project evolves, the Project Coordinator will continue to support project operations by facilitating communication between the research team, institutional offices and vendors, ensuring compliance with university and CFI policies and contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of the facilities and infrastructure.


Qualifications


Undergraduate degree in Engineering or a related discipline. A graduate degree in Robotics or the related field is an asset. Strong understanding of the robotics landscape. Excellent organizational, communication and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently, and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. Familiarity with robots and drones is an asset. Project management or coordination experience in a research, technical or academic setting is an asset.
