Summary

We are currently hiring for a Project Coordinator to join our Western Canada Construction Team. Reporting to the Director, Facilities, the Project Coordinator will plan and direct construction, renovations and maintenance projects. This role will also direct and oversee contractors, plan budgets, develop project schedules, and liaise with various departments internally. This position will provide strong support in all aspects of the construction process.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Ensures seamless delivery of projects on time and on budget.
  • Oversee construction projects from initial development of scopes of work and permit applications to completion.
  • Create and edit AutoCAD drawings as directed.
  • Complete construction drawing packages for tender and construction.
  • Liaise with Merchandising and Operations departments to update drawings as required.
  • Assist in project scheduling and deficiency follow-up as needed.
  • Maintain computer-based filing system for store drawings.
  • Under the guidance of the Director, Facilities, negotiate and manage construction and renovation contracts within approved guidelines and capital budget allocations.
  • Prepare project schedules, budgets and tender documents.
  • Ensure on time order and deliveries to support project schedules.
  • Review and upgrade construction and material specifications as required.
  • Work directly with contractors and construction vendors to ensure on-time project completion and high-quality results.
  • Liaise with engineers, architects, and designers to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Contribute to maintenance projects as required to support the maintenance team.
  • Track and update expenditures on individual projects regularly to coincide with period reporting requirements.
  • Comply with company and department policies and procedures.
  • Any special projects, as assigned.
PROFILE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Education or 2 years' experience in a construction-related profession.
  • University degree or college diploma in Architectural Technologies, Architectural Drafting or equivalent.
  • Expert in AutoCAD.
  • Construction experience specifically related to a retail environment an asset.
  • Understanding of project delivery methods, approval processes.
  • Project estimating and cost control.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical services.
  • Demonstrate excellent communications, interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to provide guidance to contractors, architects and consultants.
  • Working knowledge of legislation, Codes and Zoning Bylaws.
  • Open to travel anywhere in Western Canada.
  • Capacity to work under pressure.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Power Point.
