The Role
This role in project consulting is both challenging and rewarding. It requires a proactive individual and critical thinker who is eager to gain technical expertise through hands-on experience and develop a strong understanding of the Building Code. Project Consultants in this position will be responsible for performing code consulting, reviewing design documentation, and coordinating with clients and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with applicable building and fire codes. This position will work closely with senior consultants to manage their own projects as well as support senior staff with more complex projects.

Provide technical support for projects and/or lead assigned projects by reviewing documentation, preparing reports, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
Assisting senior consultants in establishing best practices for project organization and implementation.
Support senior consultants with project tasks and assignments as required.
Conduct consultations via telephone, email, and written correspondence to effectively understand client needs, communicate necessary information, and keep clients and project teams well informed throughout the process.
Attend meetings with clients, stakeholders and Authorities Having Jurisdiction to discuss project details and requirements.
Assist in preparing proposals with support of senior staff and Proposal Coordinator.
Assist Finance with project billing by completing timesheets and monthly invoice submissions and follow up with client billings as requested.
Engage in professional development by attending industry conferences, training sessions, and webinars to stay updated on fire and life safety standards
Involvement in department and corporate initiatives in coordination with leadership
What's in your bag?
University degree in mechanical, civil, or chemical engineering or architectural engineering/ technology.
2-5 years of experience in fire and life safety consulting, building code compliance, or a related field
Understanding of building and fire codes (NBC, NFC, OBC, OFC) and industry standards (NFPA, CAN/ULC, CSA) is required.
Ability to work on and support multiple projects, including assisting with or independently handling the planning, coordination, and execution of work.
Ability to review architectural drawings and other technical documentation for code compliance.
Ability to prepare technical reports and documentations.
Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive and collaborative relationships.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address emergency, fire, and life safety issues.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Bluebeam or other relevant software is an asset.
