Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:




Responsible for building and managing budgets for selected projects from inception to completion while ensuring that Carleton University's risk is minimized. Reporting to the Assistant Director (Research Development), the incumbent is responsible for assisting principal investigators (PIs) and OVPRI staff with budget preparation, award management, and reporting for large-scale, complex strategic research projects and to perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:




The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

Knowledge of research and sector trends, project management, and business development Knowledge of research funding application and programs, policies, procedures, and processes Knowledge of office as well as the broader university academic units, departments, and divisions Knowledge of office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, discipline-specific software, enterprise software, and technology devices Knowledge of cultural competency and diversity in a business context

Education and Experience:




The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

Undergraduate degree ideally with business management and or accounting skills Minimum of five years of previous research or project management experience and business development experience
