Job Description

Yonge North York Business Improvement Area (BIA) serves 1600 member businesses and commercial property owners in the area along Yonge between the 401 and Bishop Avenue. Our vision is to be the preferred destination in North Toronto for businesses, residents, visitors and workers to live, work and play. Assisting our collective members and delivering relevant support is a priority.

Key Accountabilities



Prepare presentation materials, reports, research and project maps for the organization's public realm projects and materials. Assist with the implementation of the BIA's Public Realm Master Plan. Provide Member support via communications, assistance escalating unresolved public realm issues, building relationships and upkeeping contact information. Assist the Executive Director with various grant writing and reporting requirements. Assist the Marketing & Economic Development Manager with sponsorship communications. Coordinate communications and logistics for business and stakeholder meetings. Represent the organization when needed at meetings, events and with partner or stakeholder communications as directed by the Executive Director. Make use of the BIA's branding, messaging and brand templates in project materials. Complete or assist with additional project, event, communications or administrative task as needed.

Core Competencies



College degree, previous training program or certificate preferred Excellent verbal and written English communication skills Excellent attention to detail and precision Excellent interpersonal skills, customer service, tact, confidentiality and persuasion Able to work with minimal supervision or in a team Technologically adept and able to learn new software Very good Excel and Word; Google Docs, Sheets & Calendar; and Zoom skills Very good Canva and design skills Able to work flexible hours to accommodate meeting attendance including some evenings and/or weekends Able to work in person the majority of the time and sometimes online

Bonus Skills (Not Required)



Previous experience in a fast-paced environment Excellent verbal and written Mandarin, Korean, Cantonese OR Farsi

Annual Salary:

$45,000-50,000 (semi-monthly pay periods)

Contract Length:

1 Year. Possibility of renewal may be considered

Other Requirements:



Ability to interact positively with multiple individuals. Ability to traverse as a pedestrian and via TTC (fare provided) within our district for project or communications work. Working home office wifi required in case of periodic remote work. Ability to lift 20-30lbs to assist with event day logistics. Able to follow COVID-19 protocols when required.

Conflict of interest policies must be followed including that candidates may not be related to, or otherwise employed, or under contract of any member of the BIA's Board or Staff, or local municipality.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $45,000.00-$50,000.00 per year

Schedule:

Monday to Friday Weekends as needed
