We invite you to be part of our evolution.The OpportunityWe are currently seeking a Project Advisor, Project & Shutdown Management to join our Capital Projects team in Thompson. This is a full-time position.The purpose of the Project Advisor role is to provide technical support services associated to delivering Operation, Capital and Shutdown Projects. This would include design reviews, field construction reviews and mark-ups for the safe and efficient execution of the Project.Additionally, in this position you will be responsible for:Safety

  • Facilitate design reviews and design PHR.
  • Coordinate the Health, Safety & Environment component of a Capital Acquisition Request (CAR) and audit for compliance.
\xe2\x80\x8bScope
  • Facilitate meetings with management teams to discuss potential risks and recommend control actions for Project Work
  • Review and recommend changes to scopes of work received from external service providers.
  • Manage drawing review meeting, coordinate meetings and design services with team members and site personnel.
  • Coordinate Engineering Studies (FEL) and Detailed Design on behalf of Project lead.
  • Enter/screen engineering requests and work with central engineering to manage and coordinate external engineering services demands and conflicts.
  • Review designs and proposals to ensure compliance with plant requirements.
  • Provide technical field support to the Projects and Shutdown group as required.
  • Support the maintenance business processes (VPS Technical) and tools (i.e. SAP)
  • Ensure the completion of purchase specifications.
  • Act as liaison between design consultants and site/project lead for engineering related issues.
Schedule
  • Provide the Project Lead and Project Scheduler with time and resource details with regards to field modifications
  • Assist in the resolution of engineering and scheduling problems and conflicts with construction and/or procurement as required.
Quality
  • Support Project Lead in the design of and compliance to the quality plans for projects.
  • Identify Management of Change requirements for Projects.
  • Review Engineering Designs.
  • Verify that shop drawings, vendor drawings, and vendor information are issued to the consultants and Central Engineering as well as the E18 process for drawing management is followed.
  • Evaluate engineering and construction proposals and designs and make recommendations.
  • Facilitate stakeholder review of drawings and specifications.
  • Issue monthly reporting information as required by the Project Superintendent for inclusion in monthly project reports.
  • Coordinate input from MTS, CED, Operations, SHE Groups, Specialists, and outside regulatory groups. (ESA, TSSA, and Building Department) as required to ensure the successful delivery of Projects.
  • Verify that required drawings are sent to CED for filing in the JDMS at the close out of the project.
  • Coordinate preparation of commissioning checklists and participate in or lead commissioning.
  • Work with Project Controls Coordinator to set-up and maintain engineering and vendor drawings and registers.
  • Review design change FWI\xe2\x80\x99s/RFI\xe2\x80\x99s/PCR\xe2\x80\x99s\\APC\xe2\x80\x99s for all active projects as required.
  • Audit installation/construction for adherence to design.
  • Prepare draft of Capital Steering Presentations for Plant Managers.
  • Review TFR\xe2\x80\x99s for completeness prior to final sign off.
  • Review\\assess engineering requests submitted at plant prior to forwarding to CED.
  • Be knowledgeable of engineering standards and notify CED in instances were standards may be out of date.

  • Review and verify appropriateness of costs associated with the construction of field modifications
About YouEducation:
  • Undergraduate degree
Experience:
  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in Project related roles (construction coordination etc.) (excluding EIT)
  • Preferred knowledge and understanding of Maintenance Engineering, project management, design, VPS Technical and SAP
Skills:
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Must be skilled in data analysis and problem solving.
  • Must have strong organization and time management skills.
  • Have the ability to influence without authority.
  • Takes initiative and is able to self-direct to accomplish goals with minimum supervision.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products
