The Edwards School of Business is a leading business school located at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada. Primary Purpose: Working as part of Edwards Technology Support team, this position will primarily involve software development, working collaboratively with college staff, faculty and central IT employees to identify and deliver technological solutions that align with business goals and objectives.

Nature of Work: Reporting to the IT College Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating current processes, identifying areas of improvement, and designing, testing, and working with the senior developer to implement new systems and processes. The candidate must be able to analyze complex data, work independently and as part of a team, and communicate effectively with stakeholders across the organization. The programmer analyst will implement application improvements, configure web servers and application servers as well as help maintain the schools internally written software. They may also provide operational support within the school.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop, test, and deploy web applications using C# programming language and .NET framework.
  • Work with stakeholders to implement responsive web designs using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Be the primary developer responsible for the school\'s website, including design and development using the enterprise content management system.
  • Collaborate with other developers and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met and timelines are achieved.
  • Optimize web applications for performance, scalability, and security.
  • Troubleshoot and debug web applications to resolve issues and ensure smooth operation.
  • Collaborate with and provide end user support for the current suite of internal applications and centrally provided software.
  • Engage with stakeholders to collect, evaluate, and document user requirements and create design solutions based on those business requirements.
  • Research, review, design and implement solutions, ensuring compliance to technical standards and client satisfaction.
  • Stay current with new tools and technologies.
Qualifications:
Education: A diploma, certificate or degree in a related discipline is required. (i.e. computer science, computer systems technology, etc.). We appreciate that non-traditional career paths may have developed a candidate\'s competency, and alternate combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Experience:
  • Experience in application development, with on the job, practicable programming experience; designing, developing, and integrating a variety of software systems in a professional setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in working in a fast paced, multitasking environment.
  • Experience in testing, documenting and problem resolution.
  • Demonstrated experience with code development and management tools; continuous integration and release management tools.
  • Strong customer focused service experience working with clients to meet their IT needs.
  • Experience with server application set up (database, web) would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with the University environment would be an asset.
Skills:
  • Strong communicator and team player with exceptional technical skills and the ability to unpack complex problems and come up with unique solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and develop websites using HTML, CSS within a content management system.
  • Proficiency in web application and API development using Microsoft technologies such as C# and ASP.NET
  • Knowledge of database technologies for development such as MSSQL.
  • Knowledge of web development best practices, including accessibility, usability, and search engine optimization (SEO).
  • Effective organizational and communications skills to build and maintain relationships with various campus organizations, clients, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of software and systems management, including SCCM, group policy, and active directory groups considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of phone application development using Microsoft technologies considered an asset.
