Job Summary:

Reporting to the Supervisor of Clinical Applications, the Programmer Analyst is responsible for the analysis, development, and implementation of program and application modules within comprehensive information systems. The incumbent will provide ongoing support and development of the CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB) registries, including the cancer registry and screening registries. The applications are population, health, and letter management systems that supports all aspects of the CCMB registry and screening programs.

In a collaborative and co-operative environment, the incumbent must be able to communicate effectively within the Department of Cancer Clinical Information Management (CCIM) and also act as a technical liaison with other departments of CCMB.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in computer science or a related discipline from a recognized university, or an acceptable combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of three years current experience as a Programmer Analyst
  • Experience coding with Power Builder version 2017 or later.
  • Experience with Sybase and Oracle databases, writhing stored procedures, triggers and creating database objects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in all aspects of the software development life cycle
  • Experience problem solving and providing application support in a production environment
  • Experience in database reporting and query design
  • Ability to adapt emerging industry leading information management technologies
  • Must be a self-starter and work effectively unsupervised
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills with internal and external personnel and agencies, both technical and non-technical
  • Mental and physical health to fulfill the responsibilities of the position
  • Must be a self-starter and work effectively unsupervised, and be able to work in a team environment.

  • Must hold a satisfactory employment record
  • Must be able to legally work in Canada
Asset:
  • Oracle/Sun certified Java programmer certification is an asset
  • Certified information technology/management training is an asset
  • Experience in systems analysis and working with complex interfaces is an asset
  • Demonstrated application support experience in healthcare environment is an asset
  • Ability to speak French
