We are currently looking for a Program Manager to join our team of committed professionals. This Full-time Contract position within the Association is housed at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario's John Island Camp location near Spanish, ON.

Reporting to the Director of John Island Camp, the Program Manager is responsible for overseeing all programming at camp. This role develops and implements camp schedules and staffing plans to ensure all program areas are fully covered. The Program Manager supervises Program Team Leads, including Waterfront, Adventure, and Outtripping, as well as the Counselling Team, working alongside the Camper Care Manager to ensure that all campers experience high-quality, engaging, and fun programs throughout their time at camp.

$18.00-$19.50

Major Responsibilities

Maintain a high-quality, participant-focused, safe, and engaging camp experience for all campers Oversee camp theme days and special programs Coordinate attendance and provide resources for cabin programs, individual choice activities, evening programs, and happy hour programs Manage program supplies, equipment, and budgets for all camp activities Evaluate campers during individual choice activities and provide feedback Oversee Tuck Shop inventory and purchases Develop, schedule, train, and support staff to deliver high-quality camp programs Follow all YMCA and John Island Camp policies, procedures, and guidelines Perform other duties as assigned by the Association

Qualifications

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) is an asset. Applicants with education completed outside of Canada must submit a WES with their application Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification Valid Pleasure Craft Operator Licence Supervisory experience managing high-quality overnight camp programs Knowledge of CQRP and OCA programs Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; French language skills are an asset Excellent organizational and time management skills Current and satisfactory Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening Experience conducting performance management with direct reports National Lifeguard Service (NLS), Ropes Course Instructor Level 2, and Wilderness Advanced First Aid certifications are assets Minimum one years experience in a senior camp or outdoor centre role Minimum three to four years' experience working at summer camps or outdoor centres

CAMP EQUITABLE EMPLOYMENT FUND

The Camp Equitable Employment Fund (CEEF) is a grant created to reduce barriers to camp employment for individuals who have been historically marginalized and underrepresented in the camping industry.

The fund is open to Canadians, ages 18 to 25, who are a part of a BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) communities. Ideal candidates will have previous experience, or a demonstrated interest, in working with youth. Camp-specific experience is not required.

Successful applicants will receive financial assistance to offset the personal expenses of working in the outdoor industry. This could include: certification courses, personal gear, equipment and travel costs.



Fund Application Process:
