Program Lead, Children & Youth

Full-Time Permanent, Victoria, BC

CNIB invites you to build a career as unique as you! We are currently searching for a Program Lead, Children & Youth! Reporting to the Manager, Foundation Programs, the Program Lead, Children & Youth will lead and empower integrated teams of staff and volunteers and collaborate with their counter parts across Canada to develop and deliver programs that change the lives of children and youth who are partially sighted or blind in British Columbia and Yukon.

Your impact at CNIB

  • Recruit, train, engage and actively manage an integrated team of staff, contractors and volunteers who will help you promote and deliver CNIB children and youth program.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with organizations and institutions that support children and youths with sight loss.
  • Develop and implement operational standards to ensure policies, procedures and practices respond to changing conditions in the marketplace and improve efficiency and competency.
  • Assist with managing program related budgets and work with Philanthropy team to apply for funding opportunities.
  • Lead and manage outcome evaluation processes and help prepare reports to funders for CNIB-led and CNIB-supported activities under Children & Youth programs by using a national framework.
  • Develop and deliver children and youth focused activities for students who are blind or partially sighted and their families from kindergarten through to post-secondary graduation, ensuring children and youth have access to the same educational and experiential learning opportunities as their sighted peers.
  • You will lead the planning and delivery of regional Kids Summer Camps and provide support to Lake Joe and other CNIB National-led Kids Camps.
  • You will build strong, positive relationships with program participants, and seek insight into their unique needs, goals and lived experiences.
Requirements

Who you are
  • Knowledge of childhood growth and development and awareness of specific issues regarding vision loss
  • Connections to youth-based community organizations
  • Working knowledge of national volunteer organizations with a branch and regional structure
  • Effectively demonstrates understanding and championing of diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility issues
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Good relationship/team builder and networking skills with a variety of stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical, problem definition and problem-solving skills
  • Proven time management, planning, coordinating and organization skills; proactive in initiating multiple projects on an ongoing basis
  • Professional attitude, results oriented, strategic and flexible
  • Knowledge of Salesforce an asset
We want to hear from you if you have:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in program development and delivery
  • Experience working with K-12 and post-secondary children, youths and young adults, as well as their guardians and families
  • A track record of successful people management encompassing leading, managing and motivating teams of staff and volunteers as well as partner stewardship and collaborative efforts in the community.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities, those from the vulnerable sector
  • Experience in developing service delivery models
  • Experience in delivering training workshops and devising and delivering presentations
  • Knowledge of adaptive technology an asset
  • Knowledge or experience working in a not-for-profit or charity is an asset
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and vision loss an asset
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset
Work Environment
  • Willingness to work from different locations
  • Travel will be required within the province and territory and nationally
  • Required to work flexible hours (Weekends, Evenings)
  • Home visits to families
