We are seeking a Program Facilitator to join our dynamic Therapeutic Recreation Team. The successful candidate is a group facilitator working in our Learning Disabilities & Mental Health program and will be responsible for delivering our activity-based Therapeutic Martial Arts programs to children & youth ages 9-18. These are manualized evidence informed programs that combine martial arts training with psychoeducation, mindfulness, and emotion regulation strategies, to support the mental health of children & youth.As a Program Facilitator, you will: * Leads the planning and delivery of the manualized therapeutic activities in our Therapeutic Martial Arts program. This includes all psychoeducational and therapeutic components, including post-group client meetings. May also support with the facilitation of martial arts and physical training as able, based on relevant skills.

  • Facilitates in an engaging, safe, and accessible way, accounting for variations in client age, developmental ability, and individual needs.
  • Assesses and manages client needs in a non-shaming way consistent with the program model, including providing one-to-one and group support in moments of anxiety, frustration and challenging behavior to maintain safety and promote growth.
  • Assesses and manages physical and emotional risks during groups.
  • Conducts post-group meetings with clients after sessions to promote their mental, emotional, and physical training.
  • Ensures proper client documentation is completed as required (ie-Incident reports, group reports and client notes)
  • Communicates client goals, information, and concerns, including child protection concerns, to Program Coordinator in a timely manner.
  • Supervises assigned program volunteers as required.
  • Performs other assigned duties in the interests of the agency.
What you bring:
  • A relevant post-secondary degree/diploma, such as in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Child & Youth Care, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience facilitating sessions or programs for children/youth in a therapeutic, educational, or recreational setting.
  • Experience in the field of learning disabilities and/or mental health (LDMH) or an interest in receiving professional development in this area.
  • Excellent initiative, emotion regulation, organization, and time management skills.
  • Relevant martial arts or fitness experience, such as in kickboxing, grappling, calisthenics, and/or yoga would be considered a strong asset.
  • Ability to commute to the job location (46 St Clair Gardens).
  • Ability to work at least 3 hours per week, in the evenings or weekends, as scheduled.
Working Conditions:
  • Interacts with children, youth, families, and co-workers.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
  • Fast-paced work environment.
  • At times required to teach or help demonstrate physical activities including yoga, martial arts, and fitness.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of clients, including primarily evenings (4pm-9pm) or weekends (10am-4pm), as scheduled.

Compensation:
CDI offers a competitive wage starting at $30.00 per hour. Experience and relevant credentials will also be considered. This is a casual non-bargaining position.Apply now:
