Position Description



The Program Facilitator & Volunteer Experience Lead supports the coordination and delivery of IEC Hamilton's community-based programs and volunteer engagement initiatives.

In this role, you'll foster meaningful volunteer engagement--from recruitment to recognition--while facilitating learning experiences that help students explore future pathways, connect with industry professionals, and develop essential career and life skills. You will also contribute to program evaluation and reporting, assisting IEC Hamilton in capturing impact, share stories of success, and continuously improving programming.

You'll play an integral part in guiding volunteer engagement, supporting their professional growth, and ensuring they understand the meaningful impact of their contributions.

Key Responsibilities



Collaborate with IEC Hamilton team members and community partners to develop and maintain volunteer communication materials (e.g., webpages, forms, and social media content). Manage day-to-day communications with volunteer applicants and active volunteers. Facilitate online or in-person volunteer orientation sessions to clarify expectations, boundaries, and goals. Lead volunteer recruitment and outreach across programs and community networks. Collect, analyze, and synthesize feedback from volunteers and participants, as well as program metrics, to contribute to evaluation, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. Help develop and document volunteer engagement processes and feedback pathways. Synthesize program metrics, stories, and testimonials to highlight the impact of volunteers and programming. Collaborate with the IEC Hamilton team to prepare reports for funders and stakeholders, highlighting program outcomes, volunteer impact, and growth opportunities. Support IEC Hamilton programming and events, ensuring positive volunteer and participant experiences. Assist in resolving volunteer-related concerns and maintaining clear communication channels. Complete additional program facilitation and volunteer engagement tasks as assigned.

Qualifications



Post-secondary education and/or equivalent experience in Volunteer Management, Community Engagement, Human Resources, or a related field. Minimum two years of experience coordinating and supporting volunteers, ideally in education, community service, or the non-profit sector. Strong understanding of volunteer motivation and engagement best practices. Proven experience facilitating online or in-person sessions, meetings, or workshops. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience in education, career development, or workforce development is an asset. Bilingualism (English/French) is a strong asset. Flexibility to occasionally support evening or weekend events.

Key Competencies



Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools and video-conferencing platforms. Familiarity with CRMs and volunteer data management (Member365 experience is an asset). Strong digital communication and social media skills; experience with Canva, Adobe, and major platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and X). Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. Sound judgment, professionalism, and confidentiality. Strong interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Resourceful and solutions-oriented, with an openness to learning and adapting. Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging in all areas of work.

Working Conditions



Typical work schedule: Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends. Hybrid work model, with in-office presence and attendance at local events as needed. A Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) check is required. Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are preferred.

Compensation



This is a six-month, full-time contract position (37.5 hours per week) with an hourly rate of $25-$27, depending on experience. The contract may be extended based on funding and program needs.
