We are seeking a qualified individual to temporarily cover the role of Program Director for Children and Youth with Support Needs and Community Living Services. This position is expected to start in mid December, and last until the incumbent returns.
This position will be overseeing the agency's Child and Youth with Support Needs (CYSN) and programs in the South Okanagan and West Kootenays and Community Living Services in the West Kootenays.
Hours / Schedule:
Full-Time, Temporary to cover a leave, with an estimated start of Late December.
40-hours per-week
Primarily Monday to Friday, however hours may fluctuate to accommodate the program's schedule and the needs of the agency and administration.
This position is based out of our Castlegar office and involves regular travel to Penticton which will include overnight stays.
Responsibilities:
Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Services, the CYSN and Community Living Program Director will supervise employees working in Children and Youth with Support Needs and Community Living Service programs in the service delivery area stated above.
The Program Director's Responsibilities Include:
Plan, organize, control, and direct the provision of services for CYSN and Community Living Services programs.
Implement comprehensive plans and strategies to achieve identified program objectives.
Provide clinical supervision and support to program counsellors and support workers to address the complex needs of the individuals served.
Provide supervision and support to program staff in relation to developing and maintaining client records and effective case management practices.
Provide annual employee performance appraisals and cooperate with staff to develop performance objectives and professional development plans.
Provide crisis consultation to program counsellors and support workers, in cooperation with other senior program staff, as applicable.
Coordinate referral, screening, and intake procedures.
Liaise with collateral service providers, contractors, and stakeholders.
Participate as a member of the Management Team to develop long range and strategic plans, and collaborate, assess and resolve operational issues as they arise.
Complete administrative duties, including the range of required incident, quality assurance and program reports.
Preferred Education and Experience:
The ideal candidates will have a combination of supervisory experience, and clinical expertise related to supporting individuals with neurodiversity, disabilities and complex behaviours.
The qualifications for this position are:
MSW or a master's degree in a relevant discipline (MA in Counselling, MA Psychology, etc.).
BSW or a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (CYC, BA in Psychology etc.).
Preferred Types of Related Experience:
Supervisory experience with similar services.
Registration in a recognized association (RSW, CCC, RCC)
Certification / training and experience in ABA and Positive Behaviour Support planning is strongly preferred.
Clinical knowledge of ASD, FASD, behaviour intervention strategies, and co-occurring challenges related to neurodiversity, disabilities and mental health, in addition to counselling skills.

A strong understanding of strengths-based systems and attachment-based support.
Excellent communication and coaching skills.
Knowledge of and experience with conflict resolution and stress de-briefing techniques.
To function effectively both independently and as part of a team, in a fast-paced working environment.
To work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Other Requirements
Need a valid BC Driver's License, regional insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle.
Must Undergo a screening process, including a criminal record search
Wage / Benefits:
$7,500- $7,750 per month based on experience and education.
Upon successful completion of a trial period, this position is eligible for a full benefit package (including dental plan, vision coverage, life insurance, extended medical coverage, long-term disability plan, and RRSP or TFSA contributions); as well as accrued vacation and sick time at 5.8% - above BC Employment Standards!
