Program Development Coordinator



The Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library is a community-focused, single-branch Library serving a diverse population of 42,800. The community includes urban and rural areas with most of the population centered in town, which is on the edge of the GTA and adjacent to the Holland Marsh. Bradford is a growing community with an increasing demand for library services.

Reporting to the Manager of Community Engagement, the position is responsible for planning, designing, and implementing innovative programs and services for the Library that meet the diverse needs of the library's users.

Duties and Responsibilities



Develops a comprehensive annual program plan, including but not limited to library initiatives, partnership programs and community events. Develops activities, events, and programs that engage children, teens, adults and seniors within the community. Leads and supports the Library Programmer team in the delivery of programs to the BWG community. Researches new program opportunities to address community needs and offer relevant, inclusive, accessible and engaging programs. Develops and implements training programs, assists in training and coaching of programming staff. Evaluate programming services using best practices. Maintain program records and statistics and solicit program feedback from participants. Make recommendations for improvements to the planning and development of Library programs. Recruit, train and supervise volunteers to assist in the delivery of Library programs and services. Direct the technical and physical setup for programs and events, ensuring program spaces are safe and free of hazards. Collaborate with the Communications and Marketing Coordinator, to promote the programs, services and events at the library, including a calendar of events.

Key Competencies and Qualifications



Masters degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) One (1) year of related experience in a library program development or community outreach role with preference given to those with three (3) to (5 years) of experience. Experience working with diverse populations, understanding cultural sensitivities, and promoting inclusivity is critical. Familiarity with library programs and events including STEAM programming Demonstrated knowledge and experience with emerging technology Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with the public, staff, external agencies, and to work as a member of a team. Demonstrated analytical skills and problem-solving ability, including the ability to evaluate, assess and problem-solve using logical, fact-based reasoning. Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance priorities and meet deadlines. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365. Ability to work evenings and weekends as part of a regular schedule. Ability to complete a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check upon hire.
The position offers an hourly rate of $37.86 (CUPE Local 905.29 rates) and works 35 hours per week.
