Hours

: Reports directly to the Housing Services Manager

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

: A University or College degree or relevant education/training in Counseling and/or group facilitation; fluent in English and French (preferred). Competence in computer applications is essential, minimum Microsoft Office Suite; and knowledge of web-based materials, databases and social media.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:



Knowledge of Community Service Organizations. Knowledge of the needs of women and gender diverse individuals. Excellent written and spoken communication skills. Related experience in a mental health and substance use environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Group facilitation skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, non-judgmental. Knowledge of the importance of self-awareness and self-care to maintain wellness. Self-directed, enthusiastic and able to work with minimal supervision. Must be capable of withstanding heavy workload with multiple demands on time Ability to switch rapidly from one project to another and meet changes in deadlines. Excellent organizational skills. Understanding and/or lived experience with mental health challenges and/or illness (including substance use disorder). Peer Support Training (preferred). Practiced ability to establish personal and professional boundaries.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

Employee performs duties within established vision, mission, policy guidelines, goals and objectives, and has primary responsibility for delivery of various areas of work.

Agency



Advance the Mission of YWCA Moncton. Represent the YWCA by providing initial contact with visitors, guests, members and the community. Transfer information between staff, volunteers and public to ensure smooth running of operations. Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs and workshops. Participate in team meetings and contribute to the strategic direction of YWCA Moncton. Maintain cleanliness and proper sanitation of work environment, including office, and storage room/unit. All employees are to perform other duties as assigned that may, or may not, be directly related to their current position of employment. Promote YWCA Moncton's programs and services.

Program Delivery



Provide one-on-one and group-based post-treatment aftercare, including developing and practicing positive coping skills for withdrawal symptoms and destabilizing life events. Establish a safe, accessible, strength-based, and trauma-informed environment for participants. Coordinate peer-led groups and networking activities to foster community and support. Assist women, Two-Spirit, trans, and gender-diverse individuals in developing and practicing post-treatment aftercare plans addressing health concerns from active addiction. Administer outreach services, including recovery spaces and workshops on violence prevention, healthy relationships, and life skills development. Deliver programs promoting personal skills development for women, trans, Two-Spirit, and gender-diverse individuals, addressing their intersecting challenges. Identify and develop additional resources for the program and its participants. Engage local service providers to offer relevant information and programs to participants. Develop partnerships and collaborate with community partners such as detox centers, in-patient treatment programs, and correctional facilities Establish the Pathways Support Network (PSN), hosting former participants for group sessions twice a month. Ensure the program is accessible by coordinating services to address barriers related to childcare, transportation, and food security.

Individual Client Work



Provide active listening, crisis management, and one-on-one sessions for women, Two-Spirit, trans, and gender-diverse individuals. Assist, encourage, and support clients in identifying their personalized action plans and achieving their personal recovery goals. Keep detailed case notes of all clients, documenting their needs, goals, and referrals made. Make appropriate referrals to internal and external service providers when required. Consult with peer support consultant and supervisor regarding clients' progress, behavior, challenges, and required support. Provide follow-up support to participants who have completed the program.

Data Collection and Reporting



Keep and input statistics on attendance for all programs and services associated with the project. Compile monthly statistical reports. Enter data into the database. Conduct regular evaluations and surveys to assess the impact of services and the community's needs. Ensure that short-term and long-term project objectives and outcomes are met as delineated in funder agreements.

Special Condition of Employment



Must be able to successfully complete vulnerable sector/social development checks. Must be able to complete Narcan and First Aid Training. Must have own transportation.
