We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and community-minded individual to join our team as a
Program Coordinator
with a focus on serving adults aged 55 and older. This role is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating community-based programs that enhance the social well-being of older adults in Barrhead and surrounding areas. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills, along with a passion for community development and supporting seniors.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver engaging programs, workshops, and events tailored to the needs and interests of the 55+ community.
Identify community needs and create initiatives that promote social inclusion, wellness, and lifelong learning.
Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, organizations, and stakeholders.
Provide information, referrals, and support to individuals and families accessing FCSS services.
Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers; coordinate schedules and recognize contributions.
Maintain accurate records of program activities, client interactions, and outcomes.
Prepare reports, manage program budgets, and support funding applications and evaluations.
Collaborate with local agencies and partners to enhance service delivery and develop joint initiatives.
Assist with grant writing and fundraising efforts to support program sustainability.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, policies, and procedures.
Participate in Emergency Support Services (ESS) roles when activated by local municipalities.
Stay informed on trends and best practices in aging, community services, and program development.
Perform other duties as assigned by the FCSS Executive Director.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field preferred.
3-5 years of experience in program coordination, community development, or human services.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse populations.
Experience in volunteer management, coaching, and mentoring.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital tools.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Must provide a clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sectors check.
Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation is a requirement.
CPR and First Aid is considered an asset.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift items as needed during program setup and delivery.
Manual dexterity required for computer use and handling program materials.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends to attend meetings and events.
