Program Counselors will:
work as a team with other Program Counselors to plan and implement a wide range of activities for small groups or all campers
this may include games, crafts, campfires, vespers, community building games etc.
take into consideration health concerns and physical limitations of campers in their provision of a balanced and safe program
ensure that safety measures, procedures, and policies are followed
be familiar with camp emergency procedures, will respect and comply with all camp policies and procedures
be an enthusiastic participant in camp activities -- leading campers by example
other tasks may include, but are not limited to: taking part in the registration process for each camp, welcoming campers, camp orientation for campers, daily chore assignments, assisting Cabin Counselors with campers as needed, serving meals, cleaning cabins
Program Counselors are directly responsible to the Summer Camp Director.
All staff who work at a camp enjoy working with children and youth ages 6-17. Staff are enthusiastic and excited facilitators of a safe and fun summer camp for all participants.
All camp staff and campers remain at the camp site during camp, unless permission to leave is granted by the Summer Camp Director. All leadership team members are available to help each other as needed.
All staff promote a Christian community, based on United Church belief, in which we are all treated with respect to make each camp experience a unique and fulfilling one for all participants. This position is deemed to be a level 2 risk assessment with a high level of responsibility and authority for the safety and well-being of campers.
Qualifications:
must be a minumum age of 18 on the first day of camp
standard First Aid certification
current Level 2 police check
Social Services Intervention Check
available for staff training sessions
Remuneration: $600 per week minimum (up to 4 weeks) includes room and board
