Full Time, Contract



Halifax, NS OR Sydney, NS



Compensation: $19/hour - $25/hr.



Reports to: Program Lead, Volunteer & Community Engagement



Contract date: August 4, 2025, to March 27, 2026 (35 Week Contract)

We're looking for a mission-driven Program Coordinator, CNIB NS who is passionate about creating more accessible, inclusive, and equitable communities across Canada where people with low vision have unlimited opportunities and can experience life free from barriers and discrimination.

Your Impact at CNIB



Support the delivery of recreation programs offered by CNIB including scheduling guest speakers, developing games and activities, and hosting in-person and virtual events Oversee the "Weekly Call List" including sharing upcoming events, overseeing volunteer callers, and filling in to make calls as needed. Identify new ways to engage and connect with CNIB members. Oversee the "CNIB Play Library" encouraging people to borrow and try accessible toys, games, and sports equipment. Organize and deliver Mobile Hubs in communities across Nova Scotia. Assist with the Smart Life Centre (formerly Shop CNIB) with product demonstrations and sales. Provide hands-on tech support to people learning to use their computer or other smart devices in their home or at the CNIB Office. Conduct evaluation calls with clients who have receive iPhones through our Phone It Forward program. Conduct calls with clients to raise awareness of CNIB Programs and update the CNIB Database. Conduct data entry to track client participation, while also registering clients and updating their contact and demographic information.

Who you are:



Education and Certifications



Degree or diploma in related field, or equivalent work experience.

Experience and Qualifications



Experience in creating impactful and engaging programs with a participant focus, ideally related to peer support, emotional support, volunteers, and/or technology. Knowledge of adaptive technology or a passion to learn. Knowledge and experience working in a not-for-profit or charity. Excellent interpersonal skills when communicating with a diverse audience; you must be passionate about working with seniors! The ability to meaningfully engage volunteers, ensuring they have the resources, training, and motivation they need to be successful. A demonstrated understanding and track record of championing diversity and accessibility issues. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Proven time management, planning, coordinating and organization skills; proactive in initiating multiple projects on an ongoing basis. Professional attitude, results-oriented, strategic and flexible. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint as well as virtual platforms like Microsoft Teams and Zoom. Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset. Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.

Work Environment



Willingness to work flexible hours (including evenings as needed). Moderate travel is required. A valid driver's license can be helpful, but not having one due to sight loss will not be a disadvantage. A hybrid work arrangement, with regular in-office days and occasional remote work. This balance may shift if the successful candidate is based out of Sydney, NS
