Job Summary





The Program Coordinator: Atlantic Canada is responsible for delivering Tims Camps programming at schools, community group spaces, and at Tim Horton Children's Camp (THCC) in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia. They create an inclusive and supportive environment which enables youth to develop tangible skills set out in the Tims Camps Program Framework and ensure participants have a positive, high quality program experience for long term impact. During at-camp programming in the spring and summer, the Program Coordinator supervises seasonal camp staff and applies their knowledge of youth development, outdoor education, program quality systems, and demonstrated excellence in coaching and facilitation to provide direction, coaching and support to their direct reports and the youth we serve.

Role Location: Nova Scotia & Tim Horton Children's Camp in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia.




September - April: it is expected this role will be delivering programming in schools primarily located in Nova Scotia. Occasional travel to other parts of Atlantic Canada will be required. May - August: this role will be based out of Tim Horton Children's Camp in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia. Occasional travel may be required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES




Program Delivery




Deliver Tims Camps programming at schools, community locations, and at THCC for high quality experiences ensuring alignment with outcomes and program quality frameworks. Facilitate programs based on Tims Camps program curriculum, standards, and local operating procedures. Ensure program evaluation efforts occur via the TIMpact365 measurement strategy though observations and reporting as directed. Establish relationships with participants that reflect respect, trust, and empathy. Inspire young people to discover their strengths, challenge limits, and build resilience and leadership capacity in a safe and supportive environment. Ensure participants are engaged and recognized for their contributions and achievements. Provide support to participants, staff and educators in assisting with participant behaviour management issues. Encourage participants' development through their own processing and readiness and recognize their achievements. For a variety of different user groups, display excellence in facilitation, group management and oversee the instructional program. As an agent for Tims Camps in the community, ensure a consistent front-line hospitable and customer service-oriented presence. Participate in and support restaurant owner engagement initiatives including the planning and delivery of camp events.

Risk Management




Identify, assess, and appropriately manage and respond to risks, ensuring the safety of participants at all times as per THFC risk management practices. Ensure program areas are organized and in good repair prior to the start of an activity. Deliver programs in accordance with Tims Camps and accrediting body standards. Report incidents and complete the appropriate documentation. Complete progress reports and all necessary documentation in Salesforce. Ensure all Tims Camps Salesforce practices are maintained. Support with communication to parents, guardians and schools as directed/needed. Report concerns or incidents in camper and staff wellness (this includes physical, mental, and emotional health and safety), as well as equipment and facility maintenance/care to immediate supervisor or camp management when at camp. Assist in staff coverage at activity spaces and during evening and night watch in the summer program. Ensure staff and participants use proper protective equipment and follow standards. Complete site-specific emergency response training and ensure clear understanding of assigned responsibilities at camp.

Supervision (spring & summer at camp programming)




Provide positive and constructive feedback as well as ongoing facilitation coaching and support to staff Support the delivery of staff training as assigned Assist with the supervision and evaluation of staff. Assist in the completion and delivery of performance appraisals. Provide feedback on staff development and performance to the Program Lead.

QUALIFICATIONS




Demonstrated excellence in ability to lead groups of children/classrooms through engaging facilitation and program delivery skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The following certifications are strongly preferred for the at-camp components of the role: Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification, Bronze Cross or Wilderness Water Safety certification, ACCT Challenge Course certification. A willingness to obtain or certification in progress is an asset. Valid G Class Driver's License, or equivalent (required). Must have, or be able to obtain upon hire, the required level of third-party liability insurance coverage for the role. Daily travel required within designated geographic area from Sept - May. Must be able to work a flexible schedule which could include working early mornings, evenings and weekends. Ability to spend extended periods of time at camp and to work an 8/3 schedule from May - August. Clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector search (VSS) Valid passport and ability to travel as required for role. Bilingual (French and English) preferred but not required.
