Why is this role important?Under the direction of the Manager, Client Affairs in Atlantic Canada, the Program Consultant leads and fosters engagement with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of CIHI products and services in the Atlantic. The Program Consultant will seek to identify and research relevant and unique health information and reporting needs within Atlantic Canada including, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.What you'll do1. Leads research initiatives and collects business intelligence on topics such as key health issues, politics, events/conference, key stakeholders, potential business partner organizations/competitors, and any other issues that may impact CIHI's operations within the Atlantic region.
2. Interprets and synthesizes information and prepares briefing notes, presentations and other written information as required.
3. Plans, coordinates and leads meetings and presentations and represents CIHI externally.
4. Develops and maintains knowledge of CIHI's data holdings, information products, resources and educational tools.
5. Ensures appropriate flow of information to facilitate the delivery of products and services including metrics related to CIHI's strategic initiatives such as the shared health priority work.
6. Prepares reports to meet Atlantic region-specific health care reporting obligations.
7. Contributes to the maintenance of Atlantic region stakeholder lists to ensure appropriate awareness of relevant CIHI related information and upcoming releases of CIHI products.
8. Contributes to additional relevant projects as required.What you'll bring to the table
  • Undergraduate degree in health sciences, health policy, health economics, social sciences, mathematics, statistics or similar field.
  • Five years' experience working in a health care research or policy environment involved in the analysis, design and dissemination of research studies and related information products.
  • Strong knowledge and proficiency in statistical analysis software packages including R and Python.
  • Previous experience using business software tools such as Microsoft Office environment, MicroStrategy, Qlik and facilitation software such as Menti, Mural, Slido, etc.
  • Knowledge of the Atlantic Canada health system and issues as well as related policies at the regional and provincial levels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - ability to comfortably address stakeholders and present to management and other team members.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong conceptual and problem-solving skills with knowledge of data visualization techniques.
  • Experience in one or more of the following is an asset:
o manipulating and analyzing large, complex databases
o analysis of longitudinal data sets
o health care delivery (e.g., rehabilitation)
o data mining, advanced problem solving and analytical skills
  • Fluency in English is required, bilingualism in both official languages is an asset.
