We are currently recruiting a Full Time Professor to join our team of dedicated Pre-Service Fire Fighter program instructors who provide our students with a unique learning environment drawing upon relevant examples from personal experience. Our instructor team is comprised of current experienced professional firefighters, dispatchers, and fire prevention officers from fire departments across Ontario.


Faculty prepare students to graduate fully-prepared to enter the fire service industry, our Ontario Fire Marshal and Emergency Management approved Pre-service Firefighter program (PSFF) provides students with 60 days of extensive hands-on training designed around real-world firefighting experiences and scenarios in addition to classroom theory, college course material and medical upgrading to the EMR Standard. Course content is based on the National Fire Protection Association standards and the practical training is conducted at the Eastern Ontario Emergency Training Academy (EOETA), a wellestablished, fully equipped fire and emergency services training facility.

What We Are Looking For:



Posses a Certificate in Emergency Management with the qualifications and capability to effectively teach related subject matter. Completion of the National Fire Protection Association 1041 Fire Service Instructor Level 1 certification is required. Demonstrated teaching and instructional experience in a post-secondary or professional training environment. Demonstrated ability to effectively deliver instructional content in a classroom setting and to lead and mentor instructors in dynamic, fire ground training environments. This position will liaison with the Eastern Ontario Emergency Training Academy (EOETA).

A minimum of five to ten (5-10) years of current experience including significant practical experience as a professional firefighter with a recognized Canadian fire service.


You are well-versed with fire ground operations and rescue and hazardous materials theories and practice. Additionally, you are familiar with issues regarding education, public relations, and fire prevention as they relate to fire and emergency services careers in Canada and can draw upon your experiences to make the student learning experience memorable.


This role also requires self-motivation, flexibility, adaptability to change and a passion for learning and student success. You have the ability to enhance the student experience by creating a rich and open learning environment that embraces creative teaching and evaluation methods that promote equity, diversity and inclusion. You have the ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment, with strong conflict resolution and leadership abilities, including the drive to continuously learn and achieve results through consultative decision-making processes. Superior interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to deliver and receive feedback, as well as highly developed critical thinking/problem solving, and organizational/time management skills are required. This role requires the incumbent to demonstrate accountability and responsiveness to students, colleagues and the community, including a proven knowledge of current and upcoming industry trends.


You are proficient working with a variety of computer applications including Microsoft Excel, word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, internet search, learning management systems and online learning applications. Additional computer proficiency will be relative to the knowledge required for the programs of study.
