Requirements:
Current graduate student (MSc/PhD) in the Faculty of Medicine
Successful completion of MED8166
Demonstrated strength in professional communication
Working knowledge of academic integrity policies, responsible conduct of research, scientific writing, referencing styles, and related tools (e.g., Zotero, EndNote)
Reliable, organized, and able to meet marking deadlines
Proficient with Brightspace and basic spreadsheet tools
Prior TA/teaching experience is an asset
Bilingualism (English/French) and accessibility-aware teaching practices are assets
Additional training such as the Teaching in Higher Education certificate, Mental Health First Aid, or similar is an asset
Nature of Work:
The TA must be able to work well independently. Responsibilities include evaluating participation, assignments (short reflections, quizzes), and course progress using rubrics aligned with S/NS standards, while providing constructive and timely feedback.
The TA will respond to student questions on Brightspace, assist the course professor with LMS organization, and post resources as needed.
The TA is expected to model professional communication and etiquette, and to support students in developing proper citation and plagiarism-avoidance techniques (e.g., paraphrasing, correct referencing).
When appropriate--and while maintaining strict confidentiality the TA may refer students to relevant support services (e.g., wellness, accessibility, writing help).
