Post-Secondary Instructor, Network and Systems Administrator



Start Date: As Soon as Possible to August 28, 2026



Rate of Pay: $55.42 to $75.40 per hour



Location: Henlow Campus



Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm (30 hours/week)





MITT is hiring a Post-Secondary Instructor for its Network and Systems Administrator Diploma program. Instructors will be assigned a group of five (5) courses based on their technical knowledge and experience. Please click here to learn more about the program and view a course listing. Reporting to the Academic Coordinator, the Post-Secondary Instructor, Network and Systems Administrator possess the necessary knowledge and subject matter expertise in their area, and interpersonal skills to ensure an exceptional educational experience for adult learners. The Post-Secondary Instructor will leverage hands-on learning spaces and technology platforms to educate and train students through relevant industry-specific content, provide them with appropriate assessment and evaluation while fostering their technical and soft skills, allowing for personal and professional growth, and leading to success in their current or future careers.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:




Instruction, Preparation, Planning

Instructs course(s) using MITT curriculum; uses appropriate and effective instructional methods, such as lectures and demonstrations to accommodate the learning styles of individual students; enhancing the student learning experience and ensuring engagement in learning activities. Uses relevant technology to support instruction; including the use of MITT's Learning Management System and remote learning and video conferencing tools. Continuously checks in with students to ensure they understand course material and are able to retain the information they learned. Prepares course outlines for approval by the Dean or their designate, including course timetabling within the academic year, learning outcomes, and assessment and evaluations. Develops digital instructional resources that allow students on-campus and remote access to learning materials. Prepares, administers, and evaluates assignments and assessments; provides marks and feedback to students on their assessment items in a timely manner to ensure they have time to learn and improve. Plans lessons and classroom activities that are linked to the course outline, consistently demonstrating preparedness for class. Engage in the utilization of technology to enable early intervention for students at academic risk. Fosters accountability, teamwork, and collaboration in students, preparing activities that focus on both individual and group work. Conducts research related to curriculum; continuously reviews curriculum to ensure its appropriateness and currency; works with MITT's Educational Technologists, Program Manager, and Academic Coordinator to formalize curriculum changes. Implements and adopts curricular changes, appropriately adjusting course materials in order to meet Institutional needs. Coordinates and captures data for the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placements for students, preparing WIL materials, and conducting on-site visits to ensure students are meeting the needs of the placement company/organization. Creates alternative capstone-type WIL projects for students who do not meet the WIL requirements for a placement and in the case of an unforeseen occurrence that warrants students not frequent on-site placements.

Classroom Environment

Fosters a positive and respectful classroom environment (both in-class and on-line), motivating students to behave in a professional manner while they accomplish their educational goals. Serves as a role model to students, demonstrating employability skills and subject matter expertise in their own professional conduct, fosters diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom. Demonstrates approachability and a desire to help, encouraging trust and communication with students. Provides appropriate direction to students regarding their own educational and individual growth goals. Maintains professional boundaries with all students as a mentor, leader, and manager. Provides fair, supportive, and consistent feedback to students to assist them with accomplishing their educational goals. Manages and addresses inappropriate student behavior according to the Institution's policies and procedures. Encourages students to learn from failures, fostering personal and professional growth to help students reach their full potential.

Administrative

Maintains and enters accurate and relevant student information and records in the Student Information System and Learning Management System ensuring information is entered according to MITT Policy. Provides information and updates to the Program Manager or designate as required or requested. Participates in all team/staff meetings. Adheres to and implements MITT's policies and procedures. Ensures safety and proper use of equipment and supplies, ensuring regular servicing and maintenance, and managing inventory. Effectively manages classroom materials and resources. Ensures MITT administration and department staff have access to all instructional resources and assessment material.

Institutional Collaboration and Participation

Utilizes Student Services supports, referring students to Student Services when necessary. Communicates and collaborates with other members of instructional staff, either in the same program area or another program. Participates as an active team member by sharing in program-specific activities, as well as Institution-wide activities. Works cooperatively with other departments to enhance the student experience and contribute to the overall goals and activities of the institution. Serves as an ambassador of MITT, supporting the goals, objectives, and activities of MITT. Willing to serve on committees responsible for academic and faculty matters.

Professionalism and Professional Development

Provides the opportunity for students to give feedback on their educational experience, encouraging continuous improvement of instructional methods and the overall program. Completes "Teaching for Learning Certificate" within 5 years of commencing employment with MITT. Reflects and self-identifies teaching and learning strategies and methodologies to ensure self-assessment and continuous improvement. Attends approved professional development seminars and workshops, whenever possible, to keep current with industry and educational requirements. Maintains technical knowledge, expertise and industry certifications where applicable to deliver up-to-date, relevant curriculum content. Fosters, maintains and enhances ties to industry. Committed to ongoing professional development in adult learning principles and methodologies.

Required Qualifications and Experience

:

A combination of related education and experience may be considered.

Post-secondary education from a recognized institution in information technology. Current related certifications as CompTIA Network+, Security+, Cisco CCNA-CCNP, Cisco Instructor Certification, Fortinet NSE etc. Minimum of 3 to 5 years of recent, industry-related work experience. Experience in training and facilitating adults.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

:

Degree or diploma in adult education is considered an asset. Experience in instructing adult learners, including classroom management, designed and implementing student assessment and evaluation tools, and lesson planning, is considered an asset. Experience with Microsoft Office is considered an asset. Experience using a Learning Management System is an asset. On-line/blended learning teaching experience is an asset.
