Demands, duties, qualifications

Definition of work:





Reporting to the Provincial Director of Practice Improvement, the Professional Practice Improvement Consultant (PPIC) serves as a nursing practice expert, responsible for the strategic development, implementation, evaluation, and sustainability of provincial professional practice programs and initiatives. These initiatives include a focus on nursing policy and practice in support of Health Information System (HIS) [CorCare] implementation and other assigned priorities. The PPIC provides expert guidance across all organizational levels on matters related to nursing practice, scope advancement, and practice innovation. A key aspect of the role involves leading action plans and facilitating feedback mechanisms that ensure nursing practice and policy are foundational to the successful implementation of the HIS. As a resource to leadership and stakeholders involved in NLHS CorCare implementation and foundational system build, the PPIC supports engagement efforts and the advancement of required education. The consultant advises on the integration of nursing practice and policy within the HIS, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards, best practice, and professional guidelines. The role requires a strong understanding of change management principles and a commitment to financial stewardship, particularly in relation to funding allocations that support practice improvement initiatives.



The successful candidate will be committed to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements. Travel and a flexible work schedule may be required within the position.



Required qualifications:



- Undergraduate Degree Nursing


- Masters Level Degree


- Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador.


- Three to five years nursing leadership experience.


- Proven experience in partnership development, program planning and evaluation, project management and leading quality/change initiatives


- Ability to collaborate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders and function effectively in a high pressure, diverse and changing environment.


- Demonstrated understanding of regulatory and legislative requirements within nursing practice.


- Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.


- Demonstrated knowledge and application of Lean Health Care; Person and Family Centered Care; and the leadership capabilities within the LEADS framework


- Class 05 driver's license and the ability to travel.


- Consistent demonstration of the core values of NL Health Services: Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (I CARE)


- A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.


- A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
