The experience:

The PCV plays an integral role in positioning Hill\'s in the profession as a significant scientific, innovative and credible partner who is engaged in improving the health of dogs and cats and in supporting the profession.

The PCV role is in charge to builds trusted and influential relationships with customers in all customer segments that result in active recommendation and endorsement of Hill\'s products in Canadian veterinary clinics and specialty stores. The role works closely with the Professional Veterinary Affairs Manager, the Professional Strategic Initiatives Manager, and the Regional Sales Manager to implement strategy-driven plans for target audiences including: Leaders With A Point Of View (academic and non-academic); practicing veterinarians; non-veterinarian health care team members in practices; veterinary and pet specialty corporate accounts; students and faculty at veterinary and technician schools; pet stores; and, Hill\'s Canada Territory Managers.

About the role

The PCV is responsible for regional implementation of the Hill\'s Canada Professional Veterinary plan, which is a meaningful contributor to the BRMO (Brand Recommended Most Often) company-wide critical metric. The position is important to strengthening veterinarians\' understanding and knowledge of our products and to making nutrition a more integral part of veterinary medicine.

This position serves as a technical liaison and business partner for the Customer Development team; consulting with customers, mentor and training Territory Managers, providing technical expertise that supports customer initiatives, and partnering with Territory Managers on central initiatives in high potential accounts.

What you will do:

  • Strategically engage healthcare teams in general practice and pet store teams to build the business and position Hill\'s as a meaningful, scientific, innovative and credible partner who is committed to improving pet health.
  • Influence practice/store success and establish Hill\'s as the preferred partner for customers identified by Customer Development as high potential, through nutritional education (workshops and seminars), technical support for key team members, local seminars and events
  • Support Marketing to develop and launch new products and new claims
  • Provide customer and professional insight and technical support for Hill\'s products and programs and work with Customer Marketing to ensure technical materials are aligned with customer needs and current veterinary thinking.
  • Build trusting, long-term relationships with and lasting strategic alliances with Key Thought Leaders (KTL\'s) in academia, private specialty practice, corporate and general practice
  • Build trusting, long-term partnerships and lasting strategic alliances with designated academic institutions (veterinary schools and technician schools)
  • Act as the primary contact for communications with Hill\'s student representatives, faculty and administration
Identify, target and prioritize opportunities for education and engagement programs for students and assume responsibility for implementation at the school level * Act as a technical and strategic resource for Hill\'s Territory Managers
  • Partner with Regional Sales Manager to support district training needs and provide product training at Regional Meetings
  • Build trusting, long-term partnerships and lasting strategic alliances with designated regional and local veterinary and technician associations
  • TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Work from home is typically 25%, day travel is required approximately 45% of the time and overnight travel is required approximately 30% of the time.
Basic Requirements:
  • Professional degree in veterinary medicine (DVM, VMD or equivalent) and
  • 3+ years of clinical practice experience
  • Active license to practice veterinary medicine in Quebec.
  • Candidate should be based within a 2-hour drive of Montreal.
  • Fluently bilingual in both English and French (including written and verbal scientific communications).
  • Valid driver\'s license with no moving violations.
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of business and business terminology.
  • Able to work independently to manage a fast paced schedule with irregular hours and to manage travel within geography/region.
  • Self-starter with initiative, strong work ethic and integrity.
  • General digital literacy, organization and time management skills, ability to work independently.
  • Proven sales experience in a related industry is a benefit.
