About this opportunity:

Production/Utility Technicians are responsible for the safe monitoring and operation of all process and utility systems. They are to ensure the safe and efficient operation of process/utility systems with a consistent focus on safety and environmental awareness. The production/utility technician is the area authority for the permit to work system within process/utilities. They are to adhere to the PTW standards and ensure that all equipment is prepared for maintenance in an efficient and safe manor.

Adherence to Cenovus and regulatory policies/procedures is required at all times.

Production/Utility Technicians are not responsible for drilling facilities.

A successful technician is one who will put safety above all else. They must be able to work in a fast paced, changing environment while maintaining safe operations and meeting operational requirements. Expectations are that the production/utility technician will respond to and take actions for all permit to work requirements as well as operational requests.

These positions will initially be in St. John\xe2\x80\x99s then rotate to Ingleside, TX, USA, then begin a regular rotation offshore NL. They would be 40 hours/week initially in St. John\'s, then 4 weeks on 4 weeks off rotation in Ingleside, then finally 3 weeks on 3 weeks off rotation offshore.

Responsibilities:

Support the completion and commissioning of production and utility systems of the West White Rose Platform in the Texas fabrication yard. This will be followed by offshore commissioning, leading into a regular offshore rotation. Primarily on the WWR Platform and SeaRose FPSO, as required, in the White Rose Field.

Identifying plant, equipment, and process isolations within the bounds of the Permit to Work system and assist with implementation of mechanical isolations as required.

Learn and understand the roles and responsibilities of the Control Room Operator. This position is expected to progress to control room operator.

Carry out routine rounds and visual inspections of the facility to monitor operations and identify/report anomalies while in the commissioning phase

Carry out facility and field specific procedural reviews. Report anomalies and update as required.

Carry out facility and field specific P&ID reviews. Report anomalies and update as required.

Complete system competency computer-based training for the Utility/Production systems.

Support service contractors onboard the facility during inspection, commissioning and testing operations.

Carrying out risk assessment, toolbox talks, and field level hazard analysis as appropriate.

Perform the duties of Area Authority under permit to work system for all process/utility areas.

Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner. Communicate in a clear and timely fashion and providing accurate information/records.

Ensuring a high standard of housekeeping and safe work practices, protection of the environment to be always a consideration.

Participate in the construction sites safety awareness program.

Qualifications:

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Training as required by CAPP Standard Practice for Training and Qualifications of Personnel, other regulatory requirements, and company required training as per the approved Training and Competency Matrix

5 years related experience in an upstream oil and gas industry, offshore experience preferred.

4th Class Power Engineer Certificate of Competency or other Industrial / Marine certification (CAPP)
