Production Team Lead

Job Description

Shifts: (2 weeks days, 2 weeks nights) 1st week is four 12-hour shifts and the other three 12-hour shifts

Work Location: Oakville, ON

Summary

The Lead Hand is responsible for supporting the Supervisor in the day-to-day operations of the molding department. Assumes the role of Supervisor in their absence. Assists and/or coordinates the planning and organization of labour (full time and contract). Ensures that company policies are being followed, while maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. Assists and/or coordinates production as scheduled. Strives to meet or exceed quality and productivity standards.

Job Functions

  • Organize and coordinate full time and contract labour daily
  • Respond to production problems on the floor. Troubleshoot and adjust equipment if trained and deemed qualified
  • Attend to problems with support equipment where capable
  • General supervision of employees and enforcement of company policies and practices
  • Ensure all safety requirements are met such as personal protective equipment, WHMIS
  • Continue to develop processing skills as well equipment and material knowledge
  • Coordinate product changes, reconfiguration orders and rework with Supervisor, Utility person and Material handler
  • Assist with mold insert changes when required
  • In the Supervisor's absence, forward completed time sheet (Kronos) to the Operations Manager for approval
  • Review and forward temporary employee time sheets to the appropriate employment agency
Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience in injection molding production operations
  • Supervisory experience in manufacturing environment or demonstrated leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a cooperative environment
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Licensed (or capable of being licensed) forklift operator
  • Excellent Communication
  • Good mathematical and organizational skills
  • Basic understanding of inventory control
  • Basic computer and data entry skills
  • Good understanding of product codes and packaging specification
