Production Team Lead (Junior Level)
for our Dry Blending and Warehousing/Distribution facility located in Cambridge, Ontario. The Production Team Lead shall be responsible for leading, coordinating and supervising production operations with the goal of ensuring quality standards, safety regulations, manufacturing efficiency, and production standards. PRODUCTION TEAM LEAD ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Enforce Health & Safety guidelines among team members to help prevent injuries in the event of accidents or production hazards.
Manage and enforce Food Safety Programs and Good Manufacturing Practices policies and procedures with team members to ensure compliance with federal regulations and the SQF code.
Ensure that production deadlines are met, in the case of a delay ensuring that it is promptly communicated to the appropriate department stakeholders.
Ensure quality & food safety standards are met at all stages of the manufacturing process.
Oversee and coordinate daily production operation, including team members breaks, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
Ensure adherence to safety guidelines for personal protective equipment (PPE), and provide training and education to team members on proper equipment usage.
Facilitate and encourage a positive and collaborative working environment, through the emphases of teamwork and open communication.
Provide leadership to team members through the monitoring of performance, providing feedback, coaching, and support in a constructive and respectful manner.
Monitoring equipment functionality, reporting any issues by initiating a Maintenance & Repair Work Order, and assisting with the coordination of maintenance activities in alignment with the production schedule as needed.
Transparently communicate and informs the QA team of any operational issues that arise.
Troubleshoot production issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions and preventative measures related to non-conformances.
Be a proactive advocate for process improvement by identifying and addressing inefficiencies that generate waste and no-value-added activities.
Devise strategies that would help to reduce production cost without compromising the standards of end products
Oversee and supervise sanitation processes within the production area, ensuring that daily, non-daily, quarterly, bi-annual, and annual tasks are completed within the designated timeframes.
Understand the importance of accurate documentation and effectively communicate this to team members, demonstrating through leading by example.
Possess a comprehensive understanding of ingredient, material, and product traceability, as well as management within an ERP system.
Monitor ingredients, products and packaging for basic quality defects, report to Production Coordinator.
Act as backup for other Production Team Members, as required.
PRODUCTION LEAD EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Completion of secondary school
PRODUCTION LEAD REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
1+ years experience as a production team lead or in a similar role, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
Experienced or licensed in using forklifts (preferred)
Positive, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and energetic; a true team player and team builder, able to work and thrive in fast growing team environment.
Desire for continuous improvement individually and for the overall business.
Are familiar with GFSI, HACCP, and other related food safety programs/certifications, operational health & safety programs.
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrate initiative, autonomy, and the ability to solve problems creatively.
Have strong computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel
Experience with various production software systems would be an asset.
Strong interpersonal skills.
